Cancel/Modify Dates?

I was booked for eights days with a client, but she had to cancel two of the first four days and I am having to cancel the remaining four days because of work.

When I let her know, she went ahead and modified the dates before I did. The sitting amount that's to be paid to me changed to what I would earn in two days. I am wondering if she will receive a full refund for the six days that she didn't need me/I needed to cancel?

There are two issues to consider on this one.

  1. When did she cancel? That would answer if she was entitled to full/partial refund for two days. If she cancelled by noon the day before the stay began, she'd be entitled to a full refund for those two days due to your moderate cancellation policy. So, the booking would change to six days - if she gave that much notice. You cancelled the four at the end , so yes, you'd only be entitled to two. If she didn't give that much notice, then you would be paid 50% for those first two days. However, since you cancelled (#2 below) last four days, it would be wise for you to be rather conciliatory in your approach - meaning even if she didn't give the required notice, to accept this change.

  2. Do you really want to risk penalties for cancelling due to your work on last four days of booking? Cancelling on a client booking due to work would likely result in a bad review AND punitive action from Rover including possible suspension or termination of your account (as that puts the client in a bind to find someone else at last minute).

I'd advise that unless you no longer want to be a Rover sitter, that you graciously accept this change.
