Meet and Greet location?

Hi, I'm new to Rover and currently in the midst of booking my first boarding appointment. The owner requested a Meet and Greet. I initially requested a public park to meet, but then they said they'd prefer to see where their dog will be staying and asked to come to my apartment. I think this is a completely valid request, although, I guess I can't help but my somewhat cautious inviting a complete stranger into my home. I will be sure to have someone there with me, and I checked out their profile and they have had their dog boarded in other homes.

Any suggestions, advice, experience? Is this generally a safe and acceptable way to do Meet and Greets?

When I started years ago I met people at a local park. Now I do all meetings in my home and have never had a problem. I would suggest having a friend or the like at home with you for the first few meetings if you are uncomfortable. A lot can depend on the area, neighborhood, etc.

I've offered to meet in a park or coffee shop near by and said if the Meet and Greet goes well I would be happy to go for a walk with them and the dog to see my home. That way I show that I am more than willing for them to see my home, but I just want to make sure we are all comfortable with each other first. Sometimes folks don't want to walk down the hill to get to my apartment, so I offer to do two Meet & Greets but it is entirely up to you! Do what makes you feel safe and happy.

This is a great suggestion, thanks for sharing! As I've been reading through the message boards it seems entirely appropriate and common to initially meet outside and go for a short walk, etc. and then invite them inside. Thanks for the insight!

I insist the Meet and greet be at our place. Then when the dog comes, He thinks" Hey I've been here before and it turned out fine."
