How do I stop my dog from whining all day?
I have a dog that's almost 2 years old and we adopted him from the shelter about 6 months ago and all he does is whine. I took him to the vet and the vet said he is a strong happy, healthy pup, but no matter what he is always whining at home. Took his for a mile run, came home and instantly started whining in between him trying to catch his breath. Tried ignoring him... he paces and get's louder and louder until I have to put him away in him room (a gate on the other side of the kitchen) just to get a break. tried treat training and that just turned into him walking off whining in the middle of training because i wasn't constantly giving him the food. He will even decide to give up on pacing and just lay in the middle of the floor and continue to whine.
Perhaps the dog misses being around all the other dogs - even in a shelter. I know years ago folks talked about using hot water bottles (those red rubber ones) and putting one of those in the crate with the dog - to hep the transition from a litter of puppies (and playmates) to being with humans.
haha I'm sorry but your dog makes me laugh. I have a little Chihuahua and he does the same thing. He generally does it when he wants attention or wants food. Maybe your dog is trying to communicate something too.
