Who handles pick ups & drop offs -- the client or sitter?

Hello! I've been asked to host my first (2) dogs for a 2 week overnight stay in March. We're scheduling a meet & greet so I can see if her dogs are a good fit, but she asked if pick up & drop off. Do sitters usually pick up? I was under the impression it would always be the client's responsibility to handle the driving, as I live about an hour away from her.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks very much!

I hate this feature. You can't even turn it off. I don't want pets pooping and throwing up in my car! I had a client not even provide his address until pick up day. He was over an hour away. I spent 5 hours traveling for $20. NO. Turn this feature off. Clients drop off dogs.

This can change from client to client. There are sitters that do pick up and drop for free and some that will add an extra charge for that service. If you are unable to pick up and drop off, making it clear in your profile and with clients before booking is important. My suggestion is to figure out if you want to offer this service or not and to communicate with your clients on this.

Providing transportation (drop-offs and pick-ups) is an additional service you can offer as a sitter. Rover gives you the ability to charge for this. Check "additional rates" in the rate table. You can also specify the distance you are willing to go when providing this service. If some sitters provide this as a free service, I wouldn't know. However, no client should assume it is part of the boarding rate.

In all the years I've been on Rover, only one client ever requested that I pick up and deliver their dog, but they found it more cost effective at that time than renting a zipcar as they had done the first time. Given that this client lives an hour away, that's a considerable time commitment for you back and forth. In total, 4 hours of your time at a minimum. I wouldn't do it.

Additional?! You can't disable it. All I could do was change the rate to $100 to turn clients off. Bad representation.

As the others have said, pickup and delivery of the pet is an optional service and you are not required to offer it. I charge $10 for either pickup or dropoff but I limit it to clients 5 miles or less away from me. Because you live an hour away, I would respectfully tell the client that they are responsible for dropping off and picking up the dog.
