Miniature Pinscher's won't start barking, help?

I am watching a pair, of Min Pins, 8 and 7 years old. they bark at the dro of a hat or seemingly for no reason. It's driving my husband insane, and he's worried their behavior is going to ruin Christmas. Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with this?

The pups are in a strange home with new people, smells and tons of other stuff, it is normal for pups to be reactive to the smallest sounds and movements. I realized you asked the question several days ago, and I hope the pups settled after being with you after a few days. Welcome to Rover and good luck because no one ever told you sitting would be easy.
