Has anyone ever been threatened by an owner?

I had asked the owner to come do a meet and greet and he seemed to arrive on the grumpy side. Both of his dogs were off leash and one started to pursue the mailman straight away. He had only brought one leash and I brought out one of mine so that both dogs could be leashed during the meet and greet. Upon bringing my first dog out, the same dog that had gone after the mailman became unruly at the sight of my dog. I took her for a walk to calm her and upon trying the meet again, his other dog became unruly and I was waiting or the dogs to calm when he began using explicit language, threw my leash at me and walked off uttering more expletives in the form of a threat to me.

I promptly called Rover to alert them to the situation, but was curious if anyone else has had bad encounters on the meet and greet? He had only signed up the day prior, so I suppose I should have been more discriminating with agreeing to meet, but the whole scenario ended up really leaving me upset or many reasons.

Comments

I think that Rover has a responsibilty to warn future sitters about highly aggressive dogs that have been identified as such during a meet and greet or during a a stay. They can create a system that identifies this risk, reduces the probabilty of insurance claims, and protects sitters.

Shit happens, and there's not much you can do about it. Most clients are good folks and have good dogs, but as you found out not all of them are good. Sorry for your bad encounter so just chalk it up as a learning experience.
