What do I do if an old dog dies while in my care?
Obviously I would need to contact the owners or emergency contact and possibly a vet. But in what order? Should I contact the Rover hotline? This has not happened, but I have been looking after some very old dogs lately and want to know what to do just in case.
The owner should have listed their vet. I would contact the owner first let them know that their dog has passed away, then call their vet and it should be handled from there.
