I keep getting Clients that only want me as a backup?

Hi!

Lately, I keep getting clients that setup meet and greets with me and then tell me later on that they are going with a regular sitter and only wanted me as a backup. It's really frustrating because I'm giving my time to meet with them and then I get strung along by the owners.

Does anyone have advice for me to keep this from happening? I feel that my time is more important than this and I'm wondering if there is something I should be doing differently to keep this from happening.

Rover encourages people to contact multiple sitters to find the best match. Some pet parents try to find more than one sitter in case needed, may rotate bookings between selected sitters, and may not determine who would be their go to person until after the m&g. I'd suggest that during the meet & greet, you could ask what could you do to make yourself their primary, rather than secondary/back up, sitter.

When I took a glance at your profile, I noticed you have cats, it shows photos were received by clients only 50% of the time, and there was only one Rover verified stay. One of these items may be the reason why the pet parent decided to have you be the back up sitter.
