How much do you charge per gas mileage when dropping in or walking a clients dog?

I offer drop ins and walks within 3 miles of my home. I can go to a clients house by bicycle. But when it's outside that radius I charge for gas (and depreciation of my car) per mile. I started charging 10 cent per mile. I read somewhere that 50 cent per mile is a good number. Remember, everything charged via http://Rover.com, Rover will take 20 %, so also on gas costs. So I changed my mile charge to 50 cent. Walks and drop ins are usually close to home so the added charge is really not that bad.

What do you guys charge?

I live in Texas and only do boarding, house sitting, drop ins and walks within my zip code, about a 5-7 mile radius. I will I won't do drop ins or walks farther away than that because of the drive time. I will house sit further away but I charge $5 per day extra for mileage.

The IRS mileage rate for 2017 is 53 cents a mile if you want to use that.

Aloha! I understand that things are done differently in Hawaii and Rover allows each sitter to set our own agreement with clients. So, discussing with another sitter in the islands will probably be more beneficial - even if not on Rover, just check out businesses that offer dog walks. The IRS guideline for mileage, which many organizations use, is currently 53.5 cents per mile.

However, in my area of the mainland, clients tend to expect and appreciate having an all inclusive price, to keep it simple. So, the rate is a set price within a ten mile radius. Beyond that, cost adjustments are possible, but it's more likely that a closer sitter would be available.

Things are done differently in Hawaii? We have just moved here, I am not aware. I just want to continue as I did in Florida. But yes, the 53 cents is what I was looking for. Thank you very much.
