If someone drops their dog off at 5pm and returns to get the dog 2 days later at 9pm, how do you all handle that? It is over the allotted pickup, do you charge for 1/2 day??

I had someone drop off early in the day and then do a pickup late in the evening....wondering how that is handled??

I have a set hours for pick up and drop off then charge 5$ per hour outside those times. Unless it is arranged beforehand and I can fit it into my schedule.

Boarding fee covers 24h of care and daycare is for 8h of care so if a client goes pass the 24h period, I charge for daycare not only to pay for my time but also so the dog is covered under Rover's insurance pass the initial 24h period. For daycare I charge 15$ for 4h or less and 25$ for over 4h up to 8h.

thanks for the tip on the insurance part. i have had 3 client complain on my daycare after 24 hours and really wish rover would make this clear when booking. they think im making this up for more money.

Before you book the job, either at the M&G or via initial messaging for a repeat client, find out the dropoff and pickup times. If the final day exceeds 24 hours, then modify the request to include a fee for the time. I allow my clients a couple of hours leeway before I will charge them for the additional daycare aspect of the stay. If they've dropped off the dog in the morning and pickup is in the evening, that usually qualifies as another whole day to me, anything over 10 hours is a full day. You've likely fed the dog twice and taken it out for at least two walks.

I have "open" 7am and "closed" 6pm hours. I will flex a little for repeat customers but later than 7pm the owner must "extend" another night. If they book a stay/boarding and drop off at 8am and don't pick up until afternoon or evening, I sometimes charge a Doggy Daycare fee. My business travelers get a break because they are repeats and a lot of the time pick up earlier than the time they dropped off. It works out and I count on their repeat business.

You need to think about what works for you. If the dog(s) a problem and I don't plan on taking them again I would charge a fee or if the owner is always hours late and doesn't let me know, I charge a fee. My repeats let me know and keep me updated regarding their time of pick up.

I add a 1.50 an hour… It does not pan out to my full-time fee ...it is simple and people appreciate simple… And if stated in the beginning … It seems to keep people from taking advantage as much
