Does anyone network with other sitters in their area?

Hi - I've been a Rover sitter (and a sitter in general) for a long time and more & more frequently I get more inquiries than I'm able to accommodate. I've been hesitant to refer other sitters via Rover that I don't know personally on the off chance a problem would arise and it would reflect poorly on me.

I've also recently lost my sitter for my own dogs due to a relocation so I'd like to cultivate a relationship for my own future travels.

Ideally this network would be cooperative / mutually beneficial ie refer back & forth, agree not to poach each other's clients, set similar rates etc.

Just wondering if anyone networks with other sitters. Would you be open to that if someone from your area reached out to you? Thanks in advance

Yes, I have reached out to a sitter in my area that specializes in caring for Pit Bulls. I had to bow to the wishes of my other customers who were uncomfortable having their dogs stay here with Pit Bulls here. I find it invaluable to have a back up, there is more than enough work for all of us

When I get ready to go on my trips that's when I try to hit up as many sitters as possible in the area. I simply state that I need my dog to be watched that way I can see how they would interact with somebody that I refer to them. I also do a meet-and-greet with them so I can see their abilities in person

This year I contacted several Rover walkers to cover my Mon-Fri walking clients while I went on vacation, I was lucky and found a new Rover walker looking for work and he covered me for 2 weeks. Sure you have to send a booking request, but it is what it is. Also consider joining these two Facebook Rover groups to build your network:

We do refer to other sitters, but only sitters we know and have had our own dog stay with. Nine times out of ten one of us is able to accommodate.
