have any of you agreed to watch dogs you have sit before and then they end up being HORRIBLE?

I have sat these dogs during the day multiple times and it's not an easy job but it was manageable, so when they asked me to watch their dogs for two weeks I said sure because I knew I was the only sitter who knew their schedule and how to take care of them because they both are 70+ pounds and completely disabled (can't walk, have to hold up their heads to eat, have to drag them across the floor to potty etc.) but the owners DID NOT warn me that they would end up barking and crying ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT

EVERY DAY AND EVERY NIGHT

I'm not even to the end of the first week and I've already had multiple nervous breakdowns. I am so frustrated with the owners of the dogs because they didn't warn me about how HORRIBLE their dogs actually act. I feel like I was tricked into watching them for such a long period of time without a break.

Have any of you ever felt this way?

90% of owners think their dogs are angels so what is intolerable for you is normal behavior for the owner. Plus even the best behaved dog can act differently with someone else.

I have learned to test for separation anxiety before booking the stay. It is not always easy to check these things. However I peeked at the review the owner left you. Back in May he specifically said they have anxiety and that they are not easy to care for. That would the red flag that they have issues. Next time read what the owner writes regarding the dogs. Also realistically those particular dogs probably aren't anxious, they're just done with life and are frustrated because their owner won't let them die.

I'm having an issue like this currently. Not nearly as devastating as your situation sounds but the dog is destructive, pees everywhere, isn't socialized and not an ounce of training. I've been very direct with the owners on how important training this dog is going to be. He's already 8 months old and more than they can even handle. I will let them know that unless he has gone to training with a professional, I will not be able to watch him again. I think that is fair and reasonable.

Totally agreed. There was this wild 1 year old dog who peed inside and chewed on everything. Very high energy but good personality, just untrained. I also told the owner to find a trainer and spend more time with the dog, less time home alone in the crate.

I can relate, I am with a client now that did not mention the dog is barking and whining walking around the house. I have been a sitter for awhile so lesson learned. Finally I brought this up to the dog owner and she said the dog has been doing this for her also. I thought it was just me. But I do understand their owners are away so I try to calm the dog by extra attention. So far nothing is working. I am not able to sleep well. So in the future I may have to ask the owner about these kind of issues.
