For clients with multiple dogs, what do you charge?

What do you charge for clients with multiple dogs, do you charge per dog per night? Or do you give them a discount? I have booked many clients in the past with more than one dog, and just charge per dog per night, as that's what rover automatically enters in and Ive never had a problem. But recently I had a client tell me my prices were too expensive because I'm charged double for 2 dogs. Do you give a discount on the second dog, or just charge for one?

I give a discount if $10 for Dog #2+ of the same family for boarding. For house sitting I give $20 off, and for drop in visits I give no discount. Usually the drop in visits require walks, and walking multiple dogs can be a challenge. I give the boarding and house sitting customer the discount because the dogs are already familiar with each other, and they do need care and attention but are really not that much more trouble than just one. I only board one dog/family at a time and I feel the discount has gotten me more clients.

Thanks for the response! Just to clarify--you mean $20 off for house sitting per stay or "booking" or $20 off each night for the additional dog?

I actually just changed my settings for this recently. I discount the additional dog(s) because most of my bookings are 2 or more dogs and I wanted to set myself apart. My requests have increased and since I only charge drop in rates for cats I even received my first cat request.

It's just about how competitive you want to be.

I think Lauren R. sums it up very well--it is about how competitive you wish to be. I give a slight discount for the second dog but I keep in mind what the market will bear. I set my rates based on what Rover suggests plus me keeping up with what my fellow local Rover sitters charge.

How much do you guys usually give for a discount?

For boarding my charge for the first dog is $29, then $21 for the second, so an $8 discount when two dogs board. I only take a maximum of 2 dogs at a time, from the same family. It took me awhile to get a grasp of the pricing system. The Q & A board and searching my zip code provides good info.
