Can I bring my sewing machine?

This sounds like a weird question but a potential client wants me to stay 24 hours for 2 1/2 days on the weekend. Her dogs are used to have someone with them. But I also need to work during the day.

I sell handmade items so I sew a lot. Would it be weird if I asked my client if I could bring my machine? I would bring my lighter machine that probably weighs 10-15 lbs.

It would be reasonable to ask if you can bring your sewing machine for an overnight stay, especially since the client is requesting 24-hour care.

Regarding your rate. I charge $40 per night for one dog, $20 for any additional dogs, and $5 for cat care. This covers a 24-hour period, with my staying in the home all the time and the option of my coming and going if needed. Since they are requiring 24-hour care and you can't leave, My charges would be $65 per night for all 3 animals.

Thank you for your reply! I didn't want to be unreasonable as it is an unusual request.

The only difference between a sitter bringing a computer and you bringing a sewing machine to a house-sitting job is that the sewing machine makes a distinct noise. I don't think asking to bring it is unreasonable at all. However, you should offer to bring it over in advance and test it on the dogs with the owner present. I know quite a few dogs who go ballistic at vacuum cleaners. So it would be a good idea to see how they react and get them acclimated to the noise.
