Cost for watching multiple dogs?

After selecting a sitter and sending a message I saw that the price was double what I was expecting - because I listed two dogs. It does make sense, however I was caught off guard since the prices listed only say "per night", and I can't find anything anywhere about "per pet". Most boarding places/sitters will charge more for 2 pets obviously, but not generally double the amount, I've usually seen a discount.

I couldn't find anything in the FAQ's about it, so is this universal for every sitter?

I have different rates on my site. I can set the prices for each one. I have one for the Basic Rate $25, One for Extended stays $22, One for Additional Dogs $12, One for Puppies $30. I guess it depends on the sitter and how they set up their price structure.

Every sitter is different. I charge per night, per dog. I don't discount for the second or third dog, because those additional dogs are taking the space of a full price dog. If I weren't full almost every day, I might consider it though.

Hi Tahna,

All sitters set their own rates, so this is something you can ask about via Rover's messaging service or during the Meet & Greet.

If you have any additional questions, I would encourage you to reach out to Rover's customer experience team at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team].

Thanks, Jessica

If the stay was over the holidays, it's also possible that the sitter's personal pricing has been overridden by the higher holiday rates. I noticed when someone requested a stay with me over Thanksgiving, the newly added holiday rates overrode not only my price for the first dog, but for my additional dog rate as well. Definitely worth asking the sitter if you're interested in their services. Even without the holiday rates changing, by default rates on sitters' profiles say "from $X per night" and the price for your particular situation won't be shown until you make a request.

It's how the Rover site and profile's of sitter's on Rover are set up. There is the standard default price and then if you have more than one pet it doubles it. The sitter will then go in and edit the amount on our side of the invoice per pet to whatever our rates are. I usually charge less on the 2nd and 3rd dog and less for cats.

I do NOT discount for an additional dog. I charge the full rate. In my experience, boarding an additional dog is MORE than double the work - not less.
