What should I do if my dog is constipated?

I think my dog is constipated. He looks really uncomfortable and won't go outside properly... what should I give him for this?

Pumpkin Pumpkin Pumpkin!!! Just plain ol canned pumpkin. NOT canned pumpkin pie!

It's a miracle cure. It not only helps with constipation but it also binds when they're suffering with a bout of diarrhea.

My dogs enjoy the taste to a point. Sometimes I have to add a small amount of chicken if they can handle it. Hope this helps!

If your dog has not had a bowel movement in over two days or if he strains, crouches or cries out when attempting to defecate, you should see your veterinarian right away.

Depending on what’s causing your dog’s constipation, your vet may recommend one or several of the following treatments: A stool softener or other laxative agent Medication to increase the contractile strength of the large intestine Adding fiber to your dog’s diet with canned pumpkin, wheat bran or a product such as Metamucil A veterinarian-prescribed, high-fiber diet An increase in exercise An enema (administered by a professional, not at home, as there could be risks for toxicity or injury if done inappropriately)

make sure they have lots of liquids available to them and see if a pet smart has any pills they could take in order to help
