Profile Review?

Hey, everyone! I've been on Rover since mid-October but I haven't had any Rover clients yet. Does anyone have a few moments to review my profile & offer critiques or suggestions? I can do the same in return if you'd like. :) And yes, I've done the business cards & all methods of promoting my profile (except Craigslist). RoverGo is not offered where I live either. Thanks, all!

Hi Ashley:

Great profile! You seem like an ideal sitter for either walks or drop in visits! ONE nit picky thing....you should be consistent with the Rover verbiage and change "Visits" to "Drop in visits" in your profile. Keep up with your advertising and you'll get some bookings...once one client leaves a verified review, others will follow!

Good luck!

Thanks, Mary! I changed it. :) Yes, I agree. If I could just get one 5 star verified review I think others would be more likely to book with me. I have clients from Sittercity & referrals but I really want to build my Rover clientele as well.

I had never heard of sittercity, so I looked it up and the search function comes from Rover.

Hi Ashley & Welcome! You have an awesome profile and testimonials to start. Just 1 nit pick: the title "Visits" is misspelled. Just a more polished professional look.

Some suggestions to help or suggest: Check your zip code and surrounding zip codes to see how saturated with rover sitters in your area and their rates. I would also suggest stating "how long (years) you have been pet sitting/dog walking/pet care" including any other pets you are willing to care for on visits, in your profile - not just with rover- but for friends, family, neighbors, etc. even if you didn't charge for the services.

Do post on CL. Some sitters have success with it and others don't get much if any.

On the internet check out hotels/motels/extended stay that allow dogs in your area/radius you are willing to travel. Take your cards and introduce yourself to the front desk, explain your services and leave several cards. People that travel with their pets go to events, sight seeing, etc. or want a nice sit-down meal where they can't take their dog(s)

Check out restaurants with patio seating that cater to/allow dogs, talk to the managers and ask to leave your cards. There are fast food and other restaurants in AZ that encourage/allow pet parents to bring their dogs and some that even have "something special or menu for pups": Starbucks, Culver's to list a couple. Just type in the search "dog friendly restaurants" and you may be surprised what comes up!

Connect with rescue organizations, go to adoption events and hand out your cards; Some gas stations may allow you to leave your cards but make sure to talk to the manager or owner because some don't allow business cards.

I did a lot of leg work to connect with pet parents and you have to be patient but it does pay off.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, Kathleen! I was thinking of asking for more testimonials but I am concerned about how it will look if too many are from friends & family so I've kept it to a minimum. I fixed the misspelling & I'm going to post of Craigslist now. :) Great ideas for networking!! Thank you!

It seems like you have a very perky and upbeat personality based on your profile! it also seems like your city, because it is smaller, does not have a lot of competition to drive business your way. I second the remarks on definitely advocating for your business in vet offices hotels restaurants that sort of thing. let people know that there is a pet service in town.

I think your profile looks good! Quite frankly most clients don't even read the profile so I think spelling and nice photos are probably the most important thing :)

Welcome! For some reason, I can't see anyone's profile from this forum but I can tell you that Craigslist was great for me. Just make sure to follow Rover's suggestions about not leaving your contact information. It's best that people from Craigslist can only contact you through your profile on Rover.

Did you get any requests at all over the holidays?

I will try Craigslist! Thanks, Moureene! I've only had 2 requests. One out of my service area & the other one is a potential client who is moving near me soon.

Ok. That's good. It means that you havr some visibility. It takes time. All the best!

Hey guys! I am also new to this like her. And I just got approved this week. I also followed the guideline by posting on Craigslist. How long did it take for you guys to get clients. I am in the Atlanta area. ANY HELP?
