Would any other sitters participate in dog sitting more if the pay system was changed?

Would you use the app more if Rover didn't take so much of the cut? Does dog-sitting for just a couple days for a new customer seem like a waste of time because of how much money Rover takes out?

Not at all. I joined in May of 2015, so my cut is 85%. Considering that Rover literally brings clients to you without you having to produce or pay for any marketing/advertising, I think it's well worth the 15% they take. Plus, they have a wonderful support system, provide insurance for pet medical emergencies, and all of the reservations and payments are completed through the site which means you don't have to pay for your own software to do that part for you. If you feel that you are wasting your time, you should reevaluate your rates and possibly your service area. I can't see your rates since you are set to away, but take a look at your local competition and make sure you are priced accordingly. Also, ensure that you aren't spending too much on gas and/or travel time in addition to your time spent at the client's home for drop-ins/walks/overnights.

My Rover business has been very successful since starting in Jan 2016. The rates Rover charges are more than reasonable for the services they perform for the sitter community. Ryann looking at your profile it appears to me you are a new sitter. If you don't feel your rate gives you an adequate income after fees, your rates are set too low. To many new sitters buy in that they must be the lowest priced in their area to get clients - this is not true. Good luck to you if you decide to remain part of the Rover team

P.S. you have yourself in an away status but your calendar shows you available in January

I just got accepted into the RoverGO program which means that Rover will take 25% of my earnings. That is MORE than fair. I worked for another company that took 40-70% of my earnings (I didn't know how much they were charging until close to the end of my employment with them). Rover is incredible. If you want to make more money, charge more for your services.

Great question! Regular Rover sitters earn 80% (typically) of their earnings and RoverGO sitters earn 75% of their earnings. I'll provide a little more information about RoverGO, which you can join by going to https://www.rover.com/go/ or emailing the team at rovergo@rover.com

You can also call anytime at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team] and the team will go over the benefits and process of RoverGO in more depth!

RoverGO is a great option for sitters who are looking to get more—more bookings, more clients, more money. The team sets you up to earn loyal clients, 4-6 stays every month, and continue building a thriving dog-sitting business. Some of the benefits included in the program is a complimentary background check, a professionally written profile, a boost in search rankings if you're a new sitter, and a welcome package of your choice which contains dog bandanas, thank you cards, t-shirts, and more!

RoverGO is especially great for new sitters on the site - especially ones trying to really ramp up their business - because we provide a boost for the first 10 stays for new sitters! That means you show up higher in search results. Coupled with your professional photos and written profile, you really stand out to owners.

But overall, sitters with GO have the opportunity to earn $100+ more each month, have about 20% more conversations with dog owners, and get 10-15% more bookings than a regular sitter.
