There are a lot of sitters that are located very close to me. Is there any way to contact other sitters just to get advice or to establish a relationship for referrals?
There are several Facebook pages for Rover/DV sitters:

They are open to both Rover & DV sitters. You must provide a link to your Rover/DV profile so the admins can confirm you are a real sitter for either site.
Last week I requested to join rover to rover sitters (https://www.facebook.com/groups/96872...) but it is still showing pending. Is there another way to request to join?
I would suggest messaging the admin. Give her your Rover profile link. What is your Facebook name? I can also invite you to join, but I don't know how long that will take.

I wish! The only way to contact another sitter is to request services like our clients do. I'm afraid of doing that just to talk to other sitters - thereby lowering their ranking because it's not a real request...so I haven't contacted other sitters in my area.
