Fishy boarding request?

A pet owner contacted me today requesting a one night stay at my home and insisted i give them my address before booking the stay. I did not but i did offer an address to a church near my home. The owner never responded to any of my messages after that. This arose my suspicion because their profile does not have any photos or details about the dog and the user is claiming to own a a three year old poodle that weighs ten pounds. The fact that the owner insisted on getting my address leads me to believe that they either had intent to rob my home or steal my identity.

I submitted my concers to rover to be safe but does anyone else think this request was fishy? Have you had similar requests?

Hi Kimberly: I think you did the right thing....the request seems fishy to me also, especially since you never heard back from them. The only way a potential client should know your address is if you set up a meet & greet in your home. I don't offer any services in my home (I travel sit, so only drop-ins, walks, and house sitting) but I will get some fishy requests as well. It's better to be safe than sorry!

I agree. I have never had a client ask my exact address until after we schedule the M&G. Blank profiles by themselves are not a true indicator of scammers or shady people - some new owners don't know or don't want to fill it out until they have a sitter identified.
