What types of questions should a sitter/dog walker ask on a meet and great?

When doing a meet and greet, what are the most important questions to be asked? How long should these usually take?

Hi, Mallorie! Rover posted about this on their blog a while back and you can use the link below to find an extensive checklist of questions. I've used their checklist as a guide and made my own with the following questions: [ ] Have any health issues (e.g., arthritis, allergies, etc.)?

[ ] Take medication? If so, what’s their medication schedule?

[ ] Where is their food kept? How much and when do they eat?

[ ] What kind of treats do you give your dog, and how much? [ ] Where do they usually sleep? Are they crated?

[ ] Do they have storm anxiety? How is this handled? [ ] Is there an alarm code?

[ ] Is there anyone that would be in the house or lawn services in the yard?

[ ] Where are the cleaning supplies located?

[ ] Plant watering and/or mail collection? Trash day?

[ ] Time(s) for visits? [ ] When will first and last visit be?

[ ] How would you like me to access the house -- key, garage code/opener? Key return:

HI Mallorie: Every sitter has their own set of "rules" they use for meet & greets. As a walker, I ask: 1) Where the dog is usually walked and for how long. (and is there areas that need to be avoided?) 2) If a special harness or leash is used. 3) If the dog gets along with others (people/dogs/cats, etc) 4) Where food/water bowls are located 5) Entry to the home - Key or Code? 6) Any fears? storms, animals, motorcycles or whatever 7) Anything they are working on...training for __(whatever), commands, praises, etc, 8) Any medications and/or health issues 9) Is the dog crated when home alone, or have full access to house - or kept in one area? 10) Any outer clothing for the dog in winter months? My meet & greets usually last up to an hour, but many sitters don't take that long. I keep a notebook of all of my clients, and have a page dedicated to each client and their dog(s) that I take notes on during the m&g. Beside my questions, I verify the date(s) needed, remind them they have 72 hours to pay once I book the stay, and I talk about the Report Card.
