Special requirements?

Part of my work background is with our local Humane Society and in animal disaster. As a result , I have of course seen a lot and have developed my own personal opinion on things. Without getting into any debates/discussion about these beliefs, I wanted to know if I can/should express these beliefs in the form of requirements for owners that are interested in hiring me for services? For example, I know that I can choose to only accept cats/dogs that are fixed. Another example is that I am a strong advocate for positive reinforcement training - so I am against prong collars. I also do not like retractable leashes (for training/behavior and safety reasons).

I am also wondering if anyone else requires proof of rabies?

Yes, you can/should express your absolute requirements in your profile, such as rabies vaccine and fixed cats&dogs. Since not everyone thoroughly reads profiles, I'd suggest communicating those types of items before scheduling a meet&greet, and you can require any paperwork you want to see brought to m&g (many sitters do so). At the m&g, seems the best time to state that you will not use prong collars and retractable leashes. I do that on a case by case basis (i.e. if I see retractable leash or the owner tells me they use a prong collar, I tell them I won't be using either. Upon arrival, I'm ready with an extra fixed length leash to use if their dog shows up with a retractable).
