What do I do on my first visit?

Congratulations on getting your first request! Answering a client promptly will help your ranking on Rover; they keep stats on that. Once you have responded, you should set up a Meet & Greet with the client to go over all aspects of the job. Don't just accept the request without meeting the client and their pet. Find out all the details from what they expect you to do (feeding, walking, playing, etc.) , when you need to be there (if this is a drop-in job or house sitting), any other duties, and how you will access the house (key or code).

Before you get your hopes up, many Rover clients contact more than one sitter, so you may not necessarily get the job. Be positive, ask lots of questions about their needs, get to know the dog/animals, and leave them wanting you to be their pup's sitter.

It sounds like this is for either house sitting or drop in visit.

• When receiving those, I'd ask any questions that are absolute requirements in determining if it is a match. For example, if not stated, the size, temperament with other dogs, if vaccinated, etc.
• If everything sounds good, then I'd set up the meet and greet, where both of us can meet, the dogs meet each other (if they will be spending time together later), and we discuss routine in greater detail, showing me preferred walking route if desired, how much/when food/treats, and where all the items are in the house I'd need, Usually, you'd get a key or learn access (sometimes through a keypad) at the meet & greet, but sometimes the owner requests some other arrangement.
• After a successful meet & greet, the final step is to book it.
