Payment per 24 hours?

I am wondering if there is a way to get paid for your time in addition to (or vs) the # of nights? Like a kennel operates... They usually charge per 24 hours.

Example: A dog stays 5 nights. Dropped off at 8am on day one and picked up at 10pm on day six.

I feel that if they are not picked up by 8am on day six, after the five nights that they paid for, there should be a charge? Just wondering if this is possible through the site?

Thanks.

Just so you know, Rover's policy for boarding is similar to kennels. Each night booked represents up to 24 hours. This is stated right here:

https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...

Charging this way is not a deviation. Unfortunately, there's no way that the booking system can automatically adjust for stays that go beyond.

Before the stay is booked, I will ask the client about dropoff and pickup times. I do allow them a little leeway of, say, a couple of hours if necessary. After that, I will pro rate my nightly rate based on the amount of time and adjust the bill. (If the stay has already been paid for, then you can use the "extend the stay" feature.) In your case, you would be justified in requiring another full night's rate, given the dog will be with you for an additional 14 waking hours. I would charge for an additional night. Really what is the difference between a dog being picked up at 10 pm or 8 am the next morning? Absolutely nothing.

I discuss dropoff and pickup times and my rates at the M&G. I explain that the charge listed is for 24 hours and any more than 3 hours difference in the dropoff and pickup times will add a $10 daycare fee. If there more than 8 hours difference, i charge my full daycare rate. All my clients have understood and accepted this.

The site won't make that change on it's own, since there's not a specific spot for owners to enter drop off and pick up times, but as a sitter you can modify any request! I usually give my clients a couple hours (drop off at noon, okay to pick up at 3pm) but too much later I do tell them I have a "late pick up fee". I set this at only $5-$10 extra, depending on the dog and the extra amount of time, but some sitters will charge their full daycare rate.

After you receive a booking request, select "modify" and Rover allows you to enter any amount you want. I believe if the stay is already booked, you can select "extend this stay" to change your fee and the client has to accept the updated booking.

Hi, Kristina. There isn't a way to have the quoted price automatically reflect that. You can, however, manually change the price to reflect this after you and the client have discussed pick-up and drop-off times. This will let you manually put in whatever pro-rated cost you want to the client's booking.

For the website:

Once you have received a request and clarified your policies, as well as the preferred pick-up and drop-off times, you can let the client know how much you will add to their booking. Then, you can push "edit" next to the listed "Stay Price". The website will then pull-up a box where you can add a "Cost Adjustment" of a one-time price inflation.

For the app:

Once you have received a request and clarified your policies, as well as the preferred pick-up and drop-off times, you can let the client know how much you will add to their booking. You can push "Modify" at the top of the conversation where you will see a new screen. Click on "Cost Adjustments" and add the additional cost onto the booking.

Note: Just make sure that you clearly outline your 24 hour policy on your profile, as it will be different from other sitters on Rover.
