Are there Rover meet-ups to meet other sitters in your area?

Often times I get requested to watch a dog, and I'm already booked for another dog-sitting gig. The dog owners sometimes ask if I know any other sitters in the area that I can recommend, but I don't know any sitters with Rover accounts near me. It would be cool to have a little sitter meet-up so that I can confidently recommend other sitters for the jobs I can't take! Does anyone know of something like this that already exists?

No...but I wish we could meet other sitters in our area!

It would be nice if Rover put a "contact" link on sitters pages when viewed by another sitter. You could ask Rover if contacting them for this purpose (using "book a stay") would be considered an abuse of the system. You might drum up some social activity that way.

I also agree with a "Contact link" I too would also like to meet up with local Rover sitters so I can refer clients too. I think it too will also help Rover so we are not referring to non-Rover sitters.

I would like a meet up as well. I just started with Rover and i need to take a week off and am worried about losing regular clients to other walker/sitters ...wish there was a way we could have a back up that we can have to to worry about stealing customers.

I had a client ask me "What do I do if you're sick or not available when my dog needs a walk?" I told her there are other sitters in our area on Rover that she can try. I would love to be able to tell her that I've met some of them and know which ones to recommend.

This would be an awesome idea! I'm always excited to meet people who are animal-crazy such as I myself :) Besides, I won't recommend anyone personally unless I know them well myself and trust them.

I can't find the post here that lists the Facebook groups (I hate the search feature here) but here are the ones I belong to.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/28029...

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Rover...

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Rover...

The last one is specifically set up to share leads and find backup sitters.

The first link is no longer available. The last two lead to the same page which I've put in a request to join. Thank you for sharing!

I can't find the thread now, but several Facebook pages have been set up by Rover users. You might want to start networking through them.

Here is one of them: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Rover...t=groupactivity&notif_id=1465789905608679

(Maybe someone else will weigh in with more details.)

Good luck!

I wish we could do something like that.

Honestly, though, I've messaged about 25 sitters in my area when I've needed services for my own dog. Guess what. Less than half responded. And most went on "away" status after I messaged them. If they're not inclined to talk to a paying customer, I highly doubt they'll respond to meet up requests.

I've also found this FB page https://www.facebook.com/RoverDotComSitters/ (https://www.facebook.com/RoverDotComS...) which contains a link to this Closed FB group https://www.facebook.com/groups/238509563360328/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/23850...)

I've submitted a request to join this group. We'll see how this works...

I would love this! I am booked months ahead with repeat clients, so my availability is very limited, even then I would take a repeat client over a new one. It would be a great way to make sure a new client is taken care of quickly and connected with a sitter without frustration.
