I have made over $600 but haven't received any forms?

I have been on Rover since last year, 2015, and I did not make enough to file. This year, I am already there, and have made enough to file. I get my payments through Paypal but I have no received the 1099 form. I am trying to figure out how taxes work here with Rover. I know they take 20% for fees, so if I have to put away for my own taxes (being an independent contractor or self-employed you must take out taxes yourself), I would say take another 30% for each client that books? That would make myself earning 50% of my rate? I just want to make sure I have a general idea of how taxes will be working. If someone could give some guidance it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Paypal will only issue 1099s if you are paid over $20,000 (I think that's the right number, I just know it's way more than what I take in). Rover doesn't issue 1099s either. You can file your taxes without them because you don't send them in. Just report your earnings from Rover - report the amount you actually receive, not the gross amount before they take out their fee.

I'm not a tax professional, so take my advice simply as me relating my own experiences. I've been an independent contractor in another industry for years, and yes, we get hit with a fairly high tax burden because we are responsible for paying Social Security and Medicare. If you are employed full time, your employer takes that out so you never see it. We have to prepare for it on our own.

It all depends on how much you earn or plan on earning from Rover (or any independent contractor work). I set aside 30% of my takehome pay from Rover and pay estimated taxes every quarter.

If you have more questions, I'll help if I can. Or consult a tax professional.

Thank you for your response. I saw your response on some other questions and was crossing my fingers you would answer. I thank you for your help. So essentially it is like I only net 50% of my current rate of 30.00 a night? I think if you could answer this it would help my understanding.

The amount that you will net after taxes depends on several factors - your tax bracket, gross amount you earned, deductible expenses, just to name a few. What I would suggest is that you review the IRS documents on Schedule C to see what expenses you can deduct.

I am in the same boat as I get paid through PayPal and I haven't earned enough to get a 1099 from Rover. I was told to file a Schedule C with a profit and loss statement. Make sure to save your receipts for all pet supplies and mileage while travel sitting etc for write offs.

One more question if you don't mind, if I don't make 10,000 or more with Rover for the year, I have to claim abut chances are do not have to pay correct because I have not made over 10,000 I was reading some IRS forms and read that but was unsure rad right, but it is better to set 30% or so aside?
