Does anyone know what is a fair rate to charge for last minute bookings?

New sitter needs information. Thanks.

Karen and Deb are both spot on, but I'd like to add one thing -

I wouldn't host ANY dog that has not been to a Meet and Greet, so that takes any guesswork out of a last minute stay. If I've had a M&G and it has gone well, I'm happy to have that pet in my home any time, last minute or not.

No extra charge, just gratitude for the business.

Karen, Laura, and Carmen are all aligned with my thoughts.

I agree wholeheartedly with this advice. Maybe they have held M&G with other sitters who have turned them down because their dog has behavioral issues. I don't charge extra for last minute bookings but I do require the M&G just to be on the safe side.

Fair is really subjective. Personally, I don't charge anything extra for last minute bookings. I'm either available or I'm not. If I'm not, I'll just decline rather than rearrange my schedule. A few extra dollars isn't going to make a difference to me.

The Rover fee structure doesn't have a surcharge for last-minute bookings, which doesn't mean you can't impose one if you so desire. However, I only charge my stated nightly rate, regardless of when booked. In fact, in other industries (like hotels or cruise lines), if they have availability, they will discount rather than let a space go unfilled.
