âTaylor did such an amazing job. My puppy is exhausted from daycare. Taylor took Bernie out for walks and gave me updates when asked. She also helped Bernie meet his first cat and enjoyed his type. Will sure be using Taylor in the future.â

âErin took care of my 6 month pup for the day and was very communicative, asking about his routine and what heâs been learning so she could reinforce while he was with her. She thoughtfully put a coat on my doodle when it snowed unexpectedly to protect his fur. He came home tired and slept for the evening. Iâd happily book care with Erin again.â

âGinger just came back from her first visit with Jessica and Dozer. Jessica was great at making Ginger feel safe and secure in this new environment and giving her some love and cuddles. Jessica sent me a bunch of pictures which was awesome and reassuring to me. Dozer (her big dog) was also great at giving Ginger the space she needed when we first got there. I will definitely bring Ginger back to Jessicaâs!â

âThis was our dogs first stay with Mellissa and we had an amazing experience! Mellissa kept us informed with information, photos and videos throughout the entire day! This helped ease my anxiety greatly. Our dog came back home in the evening in a GREAT mood and exhausted from her exciting day with Mellissa and Jasper. We look forward to booking a stay with Mellissa again!â

âEnzo was comfortable very quickly with Judith. He was also very happy and content when picking him up. He sometimes takes some time to warm to new people but obviously felt very comfortable with Judith. Thank you!â

About: My Aussie, Ava, is 5 years old and knows ~60+ commands. When looking after dogs that belong to friends/family they are treated the same as my Ava; that goes for training, obedience, walks, you name it! If there's a trick you want your dog to learn, I will do my best to help! I Love all animals although I am a dog person, through and through. My two cats, Polo & Pan, are incredible and loved equally. Can't wait to play fetch with your dog or scratch your cat behind the ears :) I'm off work for the time being, love animals and most of all, love being outside in nature breathing in the sweet fresh air! That being said, I am available all day Monday to Friday and most weekends. We can chat schedule and have a consistent time table My animals are my children. They receive the same love and care any human family member would be entitled to. I love them, treat them with respect, train them with enthusiasm and cuddle them each and every day. Animals are awesome, no!?
âAmazing! She took good care of Pyper! Pyper was tired when she got home but not too tired to sniff around the new home we moved into. Thank you so much for taking care or our baby on such short notice!â

About: Hi my name is Debbie. I retired from the insurance industry in 2021. Around that time I took a course for dog training, as well as Dogsafe first aid. I have had dogs and/or cats almost my whole life. I currently live with 3 cats. I am retired so I am available at any time of day, seven days a week for your pet's needs. I can also accommodate weekends and holidays. I will visit your cat in your own home. Care will depend on individual needs but typically i will fill water and food bowls and clean litter.
âWe couldn't have asked for a better first experience for our Mira! She's still a bit shy and nervous around new people, so we were worried about how she'd handle it â but Julia was absolutely wonderful with her. She took the time to help Mira feel safe and comfortable, and you could tell she genuinely cared about making sure Mira enjoyed herself. Thank you!â

About: Dogs have been a big part of my life for years, from looking after pets for family and friends to raising my own 4-year-old Beagle, Buddy, whoâs friendly and gets along great with other dogs. Iâm patient, attentive, and comfortable with all breeds and sizes, whether itâs a high-energy pup who needs a good run or an older dog who just wants company. Every dog I look after gets treated like one of my own. I have a flexible schedule throughout the week, with plenty of time to spend with your pup. Weâve got a big fenced backyard where dogs can run and play safely, and Iâm available most days for drop-in visits and walks, so we can find a time that works for you. Safety comes first when caring for your dog in my home. I have a securely fenced backyard for supervised play, and I introduce new dogs to my Beagle, Buddy, slowly so everyone's comfortable and gets along. Dogs are never left unattended, and gates and doors stay secured at all times, so your pup is always safe and well looked after.
About: Being a mom to my border collie/aussie shepherd for almost 5 years showed me how pure a petâs love is, and it made me want to look for more opportunities to spend time with pets. I currently volunteer at Penny Lane Animal Sanctuary, where I help take care of animals that come from situations of abuse and neglect. It is hard, rewarding work and I get to spend some time with cows, goats, sheepâs (and more!) while I am at it. I love taking care of animals and getting to know their quirks and unique personality. With a pretty high-energy dog that requires long walks, lots of exercise and mental stimulation, I can help you taking care of your pet, if you are struggling to find the time or the energy, or if you are going on vacation. I am available for walks, drop ins, house sitting, boarding or daycare. Send me a note if youâd like to schedule a meet and greet! đś My schedule is pretty flexible. Whether itâs during the weekend, in the afternoon, evening, or a lunch drop in, my schedule is flexible enough to accommodate that. If you have an emergency event and need to leave the house, I can make myself available!
âIâm so glad that happy got to spend time with you. Initially I was really nervous about leaving her with pet sitter , but Clara proved it all wrong. She did an amazing job, and you can tell that she really loves to take care of pets. I loved all the pics.I definitely recommend Clara, if you want your fur baby to be taken care of like their own.â

âDebbie and Greg are always great sitters. Our Izzy is so excited to see them when we go over and is very happy and calm when we pick her up. She has separation anxiety but she feels right at ease when she is with them.â

âWe appreciate the flexibility with our last minute request. We are in a city we've never been to before and we're so happy with our visit today! The quick responses and the updates were greatly appreciated! When we come back, we are calling Jeff! Thank you thank you! Amanda, Travis, Hela, and Hadesâ

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dogâs pack, check the sitterâs profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your petâwhether thatâs early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Thurso commute.
If your schedule changes, itâs best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Roverâs commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dogâs vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitterâs care.
Many sitters in QC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, youâre adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 88% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
