“Ginger just came back from her first visit with Jessica and Dozer. Jessica was great at making Ginger feel safe and secure in this new environment and giving her some love and cuddles. Jessica sent me a bunch of pictures which was awesome and reassuring to me. Dozer (her big dog) was also great at giving Ginger the space she needed when we first got there. I will definitely bring Ginger back to Jessica’s!”

“Taylor did such an amazing job. My puppy is exhausted from daycare. Taylor took Bernie out for walks and gave me updates when asked. She also helped Bernie meet his first cat and enjoyed his type. Will sure be using Taylor in the future.”

About: My Aussie, Ava, is 5 years old and knows ~60+ commands. When looking after dogs that belong to friends/family they are treated the same as my Ava; that goes for training, obedience, walks, you name it! If there's a trick you want your dog to learn, I will do my best to help! I Love all animals although I am a dog person, through and through. My two cats, Polo & Pan, are incredible and loved equally. Can't wait to play fetch with your dog or scratch your cat behind the ears :) I'm off work for the time being, love animals and most of all, love being outside in nature breathing in the sweet fresh air! That being said, I am available all day Monday to Friday and most weekends. We can chat schedule and have a consistent time table My animals are my children. They receive the same love and care any human family member would be entitled to. I love them, treat them with respect, train them with enthusiasm and cuddle them each and every day. Animals are awesome, no!?
“We were drawn to Ashley’s for its country setting thinking it would be a great place for our energetic 9 month old puppy and we were not disappointed. Ashley agreed to a meet and greet the day before our booking to tour the grounds and meet 2 other dogs that would be there the next day. Ashley also sent us an update and pictures while walking the dogs. We knew we had made the right choice when our puppy returned to Ashley before jumping into our vehicle at pick-up time.”

“Erin was awesome! She tired our pup out really well and everything went really good! She sent lots of updates and photos and I’m sure our puppy got way more activity then he usually does! Will definetly use again!”

“Azoth had a great time with Praveen. He came home and was out like a light for the rest of the evening. Lots of pictures and updates given over the 5 hrs Azoth stayed there. Azoth says “10/10. Would nap there again””

“Amazing! She took good care of Pyper! Pyper was tired when she got home but not too tired to sniff around the new home we moved into. Thank you so much for taking care or our baby on such short notice!”

About: With a lifetime of experience around large dogs, I’m confident caring for breeds of all sizes and temperaments. I prioritize safety, routine, exercise, and personalized attention so you can feel completely at ease while away. Doggy daycare/dog walking fits really naturally into my routine because I already have dedicated days off during the week and love staying active. I work full time, but on my available days I’m home and able to give dogs lots of attention, walks, playtime, and bathroom breaks throughout the day. Your pet will get lots of attention, walks, playtime, and love. I stick to their routine so they feel comfortable, but I also make sure they’re getting plenty of stimulation and not just sitting around bored. At my place, they’ve got a safe, relaxed space to hang out and settle in like they belong there. In a client’s home, I keep things consistent so they feel secure in their own environment.
“Erin took care of my 6 month pup for the day and was very communicative, asking about his routine and what he’s been learning so she could reinforce while he was with her. She thoughtfully put a coat on my doodle when it snowed unexpectedly to protect his fur. He came home tired and slept for the evening. I’d happily book care with Erin again.”

About: Being a mom to my border collie/aussie shepherd for almost 5 years showed me how pure a pet’s love is, and it made me want to look for more opportunities to spend time with pets. I currently volunteer at Penny Lane Animal Sanctuary, where I help take care of animals that come from situations of abuse and neglect. It is hard, rewarding work and I get to spend some time with cows, goats, sheep’s (and more!) while I am at it. I love taking care of animals and getting to know their quirks and unique personality. With a pretty high-energy dog that requires long walks, lots of exercise and mental stimulation, I can help you taking care of your pet, if you are struggling to find the time or the energy, or if you are going on vacation. I am available for walks, drop ins, house sitting, boarding or daycare. Send me a note if you’d like to schedule a meet and greet! 🐶 My schedule is pretty flexible. Whether it’s during the weekend, in the afternoon, evening, or a lunch drop in, my schedule is flexible enough to accommodate that. If you have an emergency event and need to leave the house, I can make myself available!
About: I had over 10 years of experience with dogs, initially by keeping my sister’s dog 6 months of the year, and now with my own furbaby! I’m comfortable with all aspects of dog care such as play time, walks (short ones around the neighbourhood or longer trail walks), bathing, feeding, medication etc. I work from home full time so I’m blessed to spend my days at home with my own dog, and would be happy to have extra company! I have a fenced yard and a very calm and friendly Frenchie at home. I’m close to many trails if your dog enjoys nature walks!
“Debbie and Greg are always great sitters. Our Izzy is so excited to see them when we go over and is very happy and calm when we pick her up. She has separation anxiety but she feels right at ease when she is with them.”

About: You can rest easy knowing I’ll care for your furry family member with love and attention. I’ve grown up with dogs all my life, and today I share my home with a playful two-year-old Shorkie. Together, we’d be thrilled to welcome your pup into our home, where they’ll feel safe, happy, and part of the pack. Pet care: Unconditional love, water, food, poop and pee outings. Daily routine: Much of the same but with a bonus walk once I’m done work. I have a fenced yard, so your fur baby will have plenty of space to sniff, explore, do their business—and of course, earn a treat for being a good pup! (If only humans got rewards for that too 😉).
About: I have experience with taking care of 2 labs in the past, I grew up with them as family dogs. I had a german shepherd and currently have a 1 year old lab. I work from home and have plenty of time to take care of your dog. I am rarely away as we have 4 kids and a dog. I live on 4 acres of wooded land and have a 1 year old labrador to keep your pup entertained. Our property is surounded by trails that make for great walks. We take 3 walks per day.

- Your dog's leash and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Thurso commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in QC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 88% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
