About: It all started with rabbits when I was a 4 year old. My dad bred them and we had well over 60 at one point. I had a pair of baby ducks when I was 8 years old. Then along came my budgie when I was 10. I have a lifelong experience of caring for many different types of pets. In the past I have had rabbits, ducks, a budgie, cockatiels, finches, rats, and aquariums. I took riding lessons as a teen and worked on the horse farm to pay for my lessons. I also have experience with exotic animals as I worked for a short time in a zoo. I have owned 5 dogs. A Husky (who lived to 15), an Australian Shepherd (who passed at age 12 from cancer), a sports mix - Border Collie/Staff/Russel (who passed at 14.5 from CHF), another Australian Shepherd (who passed at 11 from cancer), and I currently have a male Australian Shepherd. I work part time throughout the winter and have a tourism business during the summer. My work schedule is generally 4-6 hour days with a few off during the week. Your pet's care would fit in with my own pet's care. My dog is young and energetic and loves to play with other dogs. We hike most days in the woods surrounding the house. I have a pup who loves other dogs (he would have to come with me for overnight visits). He is playful and affectionate. I have 20 acres of woods to walk in (plus access to my neighbour's trails) and live on a small lake if your dog enjoys swimming. I am very knowledgeable in the care and training of animals, especially dogs and will be taking a first aide course when one comes available. I am very diligent about keeping dogs away from the road and they are always on a leash or longline.
About: My first dog shared my crib with me and I have never been without a canine companion since! Currently I have two dogs - a completely bonkers Australian koolie and rescue dog I call the "house coyote". For the last 3 years we have travelled all around North America and Mexico in my little motorhome in search of the ultimate dog walk. I have worked and volunteered at vet offices and dog shelters and have yet to ever meet a dog I don't like. From the grumpy ones, to the frightened and the injured to the athlete - each dog is unique and it's my superpower to be able to recognize and harness what motivates him or her in order to bring as much satisfaction to their lives as I can. That I why I incorporate dog training disguised as games into my walks. I believe dogs need to exercise their brains as well as their bodies and your dog will return to you happy and fulfilled. Because I work freelance from my home office my schedule is my own to manage. this means Im free anytime. Getting out from behind the desk and into the fresh air is only ever a good thing! Rain,Snow or Shine I have the right footwear for anything. My dogs have a lot of freedom - but they have worked hard to earn it! I want to share my life with them so we started training from the day they arrived. I believe in awards based training and understanding the psychology of dogs, so we have a lot of mutual respect and patience for one another. Im proud to say I can take my guys anywhere and I do! that's not to say any of us are perfect but I provide security, exercise, boundaries, and games to keep us all a happy family. I have a very flexible and open schedule with lots of time to care for your furry loved ones. With a consistent wake and sleep routine to let pets out regularly.
