“Jack told me he had a blast playing in the snow and hanging out with Cynthia. He was happy and well fed when we picked him up. He must have had a lot of fun because he slept for 5 hours as soon as we got him home!”

“I wish I can give Alison 100 stars. She is the best. She treated my dog as her own, sent pictures everyday & great communication. I was away on vacation & my dog had a hard time with the 1st & 2nd sitter & Alison was able to rescue my dog and welcome her into her home and made me feel st ease. Thank you Alison I definitely recommend anyone to you.”

“Bill and TRACEY are a great couple and are very caring towards dogs. I would take Casey back there in a heartbeat. He loved it. I could tell by when he got home that he wasn’t depressed from being away from home.”

“We left our baby "Leo" with Mike and Yuumi for 3 weeks which is the longest time we were ever separated. It was the best decision we made. Mike took great care of Leo and sent us regular updates and pics. We got our Leo back as healthy and happy as we left him. He is active and playful which is a great sign of a good stay. Leo never lets anyone pick him up or pat him and the fact that Mike and Tao could do that even when we were there to bring him back was a statement on how comfortable he was with them. Mike has two dogs who are 4 times Leo's size and were really gentle with him and let him had his space. Mike knows how to take good care of the dogs and he took away our stress and made our travel more enjoyable because our biggest worry was no more. I will recommend Mike to anyone who loves their dog and want to travel stress-free. Thank you, Mike and Yuumi, for taking such good care of our Leo.”

“A great family and home with a nice backyard to play in, and always someone to play with. He had such a good time that he didn’t want to leave when we picked him up. Big thank you to Mariella and her family for taking such good care of him while we were away, I know Ziggy is looking forward to coming back when we go on our next trip!”

“simba and i moved to canada about a year and a half ago and my heart hasn’t been comfortable yet to leave him overnight really anywhere. but Dalia and her husband were so good, it was like a mini vacation for him too!!! he takes time to build trust and come out of his shell and they were patient with him and gave him more than i could ask for. will definitely go back to them!!”

“Both my dogs were very happy. They were sad to leave Chetan. I can tell my dogs were very comfortable and had the best time! Going forward we will choose Chetan any time we need the boarding services!”

“Gail is amazing! My 2.5-year-old husky came back happy, well cared for, and completely tired out after his stay. It was clear that her entire family helped take care of him, not just Gail, which made me feel even more comfortable leaving him there. She provided regular photo updates and communicated very well throughout the stay. I would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter.”

“I would definitely recommend her! She took great care of my pup and kept me updated the entire time he was staying with her. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Cindy and Marc! She was so kind and took great care of Onyx, sending us regular photo updates and keeping us informed about how he was doing. Onyx loved the long walks they took him on, and it was clear he was very happy in their care. Highly recommend!”

“Valerie is amazing! Our little guy Junior, was welcomed and settled in instantly. We highly recommend Valerie and trust her 100% Thank you Valerie for taking great care of Junior. He will be back 😊”

“Oreo loves staying with Mathieu, Esther & Marlow. I am so grateful to have such caring pet sitters close to home. They treat my dog like he's part of their own family. Thanks again for watching and caring for him!”

“We had our big fluffy boy teddy boarded at their place for 3 weeks. Prashant and Aparna are friendly and dog lovers. They were very approachable and knows how to handle dogs. Our boy was happy and welcomed from initial meet and greet. He was comfortable and happy during his story. They shared photos and videos daily and were always responsive if we had any clarifications. Recommend them. Thank you very much.”

“Happy to have Amy look after Dexter while we were away. She did an amazing job watching him and sent us many pictures and updates during the stay which was nice. Would highly recommend Amy to care for your pet 🐾”

“Emma was amazing with my fur babies Teddy is hard to please but he was smiling through the stay if Emma will watch them again I feel comfortable leaving them with Emma.”

“Shelley recently took care of our dog for the first time for a weekend. Without being asked, she regularly provided us with text updates & photos. Knowing our dog was managing fine in Shelley's care & seeing photos of him interacting with other dogs also in her care put our mind at ease as we were a bit nervous leaving our fur baby. This allowed us to focus on co-hosting our daughter's wedding without worrying throughout the weekend. Shelley's well qualified to care for animals & I would highly recommend her to anyone. My husband & I plan to use her services again & are happy to recommend her to others. Shelley's definitely a keeper!”

“Randi did an amazing job looking after my beagle Gus! She sent lots of pictures and updates of their adventures. I felt good knowing I left Gus with someone who really cared for him and made sure he was happy and felt loved. I will definitely bring Gus back to Randi in the future!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 83% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
