He had a lot of anxiety for the first hour, but Irene took care of that, making sure he felt comfortable and safe. She took him on walks, used games to keep his mind occupied and gave him lots of love! Irenes house and land is perfectly set up for dogs to explore and enjoy. Your pup will have free range of the entire first floor; kitchen, sitting room, and TV area! We will treat them like our own with lots of love and attention. “I have three larger male dogs. One is a lab and overtly friendly, the other two have extreme high stranger danger fright. I selected Tricia based on her experience with foster animals (one of mine is a foster fail ;-)) so I knew she would have experience dealing with all kinds of behaviours especially coaxing dogs in a safe manner to come out of their shells. We did a meet and greet walk together switching leashes, giving trays and breaking the ice. She was wonderful dealing with the two shy boys as well as the overly excited one. By the end of a half hour one of my shy boys was letting her pet him and interacting with her completely on his own which is not normal. The other shy boy was showing interest and getting closer taking treats from her with ease but still unsure about pets. She was not in a hurry, gave more attention tot he dogs than to me, asked great questions, and overall was wonderful with them! I booked them for weekly walks with her due to her patience, understanding of dog body language, and her ease of coaxing them in a safe and healthy manner. The hope for the two shy boys is to come out of their shell a bit more and for the excited one to burn some energy.”

About: I’ve spent years dog sitting and also have experience working with foster dogs, which has taught me how to adapt to different temperaments, needs, and routines. I’ve also cared for dogs with special needs, including vision loss and seizure conditions, so I’m comfortable staying calm, attentive, and responsive in more sensitive situations. I’ve always had a natural connection with dogs, they tend to trust me quickly, and I’m often told I have a bit of an “animal whisperer” touch. We've been attached at the hip ever since I got him at 10 years old. At 12.5 years, I take great lengths to keep my best friend as lively and healthy as I can. Although his body isn't what it used to be, his spirit seems to get livelier by the day! I can give all the credit to Ash for teaching me my dog knowledge (and I'm sure he would say the same for his human knowledge lol). While I consider Ash my brother, Dart is definitely my kiddo. I had adopted him mid-2025 so Ash could have more incentive to run around. He was 9.5 years and so so so incredibly anxious. He's just turned 11 this past September and I can say that it's truly been a privilege to not only watch him bloom into the sweet boy he is today, but also to have grow with him. (He's also definitely put a lot of my dog first aid training to use... if you have a pointer/bird dog, you'll know exactly what I mean 🤦♂️). 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄: I've worked professionally with dogs since the age of 18! My first long-term job was at a dog-daycare. I absolutely loved it. I'd typically be tasked to handle dogs with special needs, whether that be behavioural or medical. I find that dogs also tend to connect with me but that may be akin to my understanding of dog language and the possible my under-scent reeking of my two dogs haha. If a dog is struggling to warm up to me, I am very patient and become extra attentive to their body language to ensure I always respect their boundaries. On the other end, I have no fears meeting and handling more reactive dogs (within reason. ex, no one should be expecting walks at rush hour with a very aggression-prone dog). I’m best available for walk/drop-ins during weekday mornings before 10:30am and MWF after 2pm. However, if you need care outside of these hours, I am more than happy to see if we can schedule visits that work for both of us! If you need housesitting, I'm typically best available for shorter stays unless it's a long weekend or during an extended school break (ex. reading week). 𝐇𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫, I understand how busy life can get, especially when unexpected hurdles come your way. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you require last-minute or one-time walk/drop-in services. We cared for our beloved dog for 11 years through two knee surgeries and several other procedures due to genetic health issues, giving her the best care every step of the way. We both work full-time Monday to Friday, so we're best suited for dogs that are comfortable being home alone for up to 8 hours during the workday. Every dog gets a morning walk before we leave, an evening walk when we're home, and lots of love and attention afterward. On weekends we're home most of the day, so your dog will have plenty of companionship, playtime, and cuddles. Your dog's safety and comfort are our top priorities. We'll follow your dog's feeding schedule, medication routine, exercise needs, and any special instructions exactly as requested. We treat every dog like a member of our family and will keep you updated with photos and messages so you can relax knowing your pup is in good hands. We also volunteer with an incredible pet rescue in Edmonton dog sitting for fosters while they wait for their forever home and absolutely love everything about it.
