Anne Geier is living the dream. As a professional dog photographer, Geier travels around the world to interesting locales to capture beautiful images of man’s best friend in awe-inspiring scenery.
Recently, Geier paired up with the Cooperative of Photography to create a short how-to video of some of her favorite tips and tricks.
8 Simple Tips from a Pro Dog Photographer
The video contains great examples and more detail for each tip. Note that Geier uses a DSLR camera for her work, but even without the same equipment, you can utilize her suggestions. Several inexpensive iPhone apps mimic the actions of a traditional camera, too, such as Camera+.
In short, the eight tips are:
- Freeze the action
- Lower the perspective
- Focus through frames
- Shoot from above
- Play with props
- “Clone” your dog
- Capture gestures
- Wide angle portraits
