We’ve dug deep into the internet for some truly unique dog breeds. Some you may know, but some will definitely surprise you. The special features these dogs possess may seem strange, but they’re deeply endearing traits to those who love them best.

Shar Pei

In Chinese, “shar pei” means “sand skin”—but their short crisp coat hairs are the only sharp thing about them! Just a mess of wonderful wrinkles begging to be patted, the shar pei was once bred for protection work, and can be wary of strangers.

Can you believe there are three breeds of dog sporting dreadlocks? All are shepherds and livestock guardians that are well protected from predators and the elements with their generous, naturally corded coats. The smallest of the three breeds, the Puli, is native to Hungary and closely related to the Komondor.
