Pugs aren’t the first dogs we think of when we hear the word “athlete.” Oh, we love pugs for their winning personalities, their li’l curly tails, and their devotion to food and cuddles, but they’re not usually our top choice for a running companion. Until now! It turns out that plenty of pugs are breaking their couch pug-tato* stereotype. Take the competitors at the 9th International Pug Race, held in Berlin on the 18th of August. Emma, a 4.5-year-old pug from Hermsdorf, won the 50-metre race for the third time in a row. She sprinted down the track in an impressive 5.8 seconds.

This speedy superstar has been described as the “Usain Bolt of pugs,” DW reports. Her owner, Angela Kaiser, said she hopes that the win shows others that pugs really can be agile.

*We’re not the only ones who love this term. Case in point: pugtato gear totally exists.
