There’s nothing better than grabbing a bite with your best friend. But if your bezzie mate happens to be a dog you might have a bit of a problem. We’ve scoured London for eateries that go above and beyond to please you and your furry pal. These spots don’t just allow your dog to sit inside with you while you dine or drink, they treat them like doggone VIPs!

1. The Egerton House Hotel

In Knightsbridge
17-19 Egerton Terrace
SW3 2BX

Located in the heart of Knightsbridge, The Egerton House Hotel, is the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea with a certain special companion. Specially designed for dogs, their Doggy Afternoon Tea includes chicken and beef meatloaf, home-made dog biscuits, and dog ice cream for dessert. Served in the elegant drawing room, this indulgent treat costs £25 per dog, and an additional £6 if they’re giving you a look that says they want to throw caution to the wind and order some rosé or white “Pawsecco”. Dogs and owners know they’re on to a good thing here so you’re advised to book in advance.

2. Smith & Whistle

In Mayfair
The Sheraton Grand Park Lane Hotel
W1J 7BX

You didn’t think it was possible but cocktail time just got about 10 times more fun. At The Park Lane Hotel’s chic Smith & Whistle bar dogs are joining in on the revelry. Earlier this year, the bar’s mixology team combined forces with a specialist canine nutritionist to create London’s first drinks menu made entirely for canine consumption. Dogs can enjoy a specially brewed dog beer, a “Pawsecco” infusion, a Poochie Colada (a refreshing blend of coconut water, kale and broccoli), or a G&T: Ginger Tails (a herby tonic with a touch of ginger). The tasty yet nutritious concoctions are best enjoyed after a walk in Green Park opposite the hotel. Owners can look forward to quaffing British craft beers, fine wines, and expertly crafted cocktails, and tucking into top-notch gourmet pub grub like grilled sirloin steak sandwiches,  IPA-battered cod, and slow-cooked pork belly.

3. Shake Shack

Various locations around London

London has 7 branches of Shake Shack and everyone of them welcomes dogs with open arms. Famous for its burgers, fries, and of course, its milkshakes, the shack also has a whole menu just for dogs. The pièce de résistance is its “Pooch-ini”—a dog-friendly vanilla custard with peanut butter sauce and a red velvet dog biscuit made by Bocce’s Bakery. It’s too big for small dogs so just let them have a lick or two. It looks so good we seriously wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to finish it off. You can also buy a “bag o’ bones” which is a bag of 5 of the red velvet dog biscuits to take away.

4. M Victoria

In Victoria
Zig Zag Building
74 Victoria St
SW1E 6SQ

If you’re looking for Michelin-worthy food, award-winning wines and a chance to have brunch with your dog you won’t do better than M Victoria Street. Every Saturday both you and your dog can enjoy a 2-course brunch menu that’s suitable for humans and dogs. It costs £35 (£5 of which is donated to a canine charity) and includes bacon and peanut butter cookies, and dried chicken livers for your furry dining partner. A few times a year, M even throws special events like pool parties for dogs and Valentines Day doggy speed dating. These include a delicious 2-course meal for your dog. On the first Saturday of every month executive chef Michael Reid hosts a “cook for your dog” masterclass during which owners are taught how to create nutritious and tasty meals for their dogs at home. Special events usually cost £35 (of which £15 is donated to a canine charity). Don’t forget to look out for M’s resident hound Hudson, the labradoodle, next time you grab brunch there!

5. Outsider Tart

In Chiswick
83 Chiswick High Road
W4 2EF

Gone are the days when, wrapped with guilt, you tuck into a slice of cheesecake while little Archie looks longingly at you from beneath the table, mouth agape. Outsider Tart, a quirky purveyor of American soul food, wholesome cupcakes, and red velvet deliciousness also happens to have a special “barkery” for pets. Its freshly baked gourmet goodies for dogs are bound to get tails wagging. Treat your furry wee mate to some chicken cheese or peanut butter biscuits while you tuck into a whoopie pie or two—Guilt-free.

The Bottom Line

Of course, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes in London where dogs are also welcome to hang out even if the red carpet isn’t rolled out for them. Also not every dog enjoys dining out at restaurants—and that’s no big deal. If you love going out to eat but your dog prefers to stay at home, don’t worry. On Rover.com you’ll find plenty of local sitters who provide dog boarding in London and who’ll keep your little buddy company while you enjoy a night on the town.
