New York’s Underground Bans Dogs Unless They Fit into a Bag. Dog Owners Accept the Challenge.

Dog owners who live in the UK’s capital are fortunately allowed to take their dogs on the tube and buses, provided they’re kept on their leads and can be carried on escalators—if they’re too big to be carried on escalators you’ll have to use the lift or stairs. Assistance dogs who have been trained to walk on moving escalators are welcome to do so.

For dogs across the pond, however, the rules are a bit different. New York City’s underground is off-limits to dogs unless they fit into a bag or carrier. Small-to-medium dogs have options, but what’s a big dog owner to do? Well, intrepid New York dog owners have mastered the art of training even the biggest dogs to ride happily in a backpack or duffle bag. Take a look at the results, they’re impressive!

Backpackin’

This is how dogs should commute on the subway. No dog carriers, or stupid strollers. Someone should tell him he is staring at the wrong direction. The subway is coming from the other side. #subwaydog#brooklyndog #backpackdog #dogcarrier

If your dog’s not a fan of accompanying you on public transport, you’ll find plenty of dog lovers on Rover.com who provide dog boarding in London and who’ll be delighted to look after your furry special someone while you’re out and about in the capital.
