 I am Basma, a 27-year-old professional living and working in the Netherlands. I moved to the Netherlands back in 2019 for my master studies at Leiden University, and started working since 2021 upon graduation. My journey from the bustling streets of Shanghai to the serene parks of Den Haag to the charming canals of Amsterdam has been an exciting and amazing adventure. 

 My motivation to be a pet sitter stems from my deep love for dogs and my commitment to their well-being, and the fact that I cannot have my own doggy in the near future :-(((((. I genuinely desire to ensure that pets receive the best care and love that they deserve, even when their owners are away for holidays/busy with work. I always try my best to understand and empathize with the anxiety pet owners feel when they have to leave their furry family members behind, and I strive to provide a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for every dog I care for. Luckily my work is super flexible and I can work from home at any time if I want, meaning I can be with dogs 24/7 if needed.

 In addition to the joy of spending time with animals, being a pet sitter allows me to meet wonderful pet owners and become a trusted part of their lives. It's a rewarding experience that combines my love for dogs with the opportunity to build meaningful relationships within the community especially now I'm trying to be more extroverted.
 Last but not the least, I always respect different personalities different dogs have, so please share as much information as possible about your (and my upcoming) friend when reaching out.

 Environment & Services
 I live in a quiet and comfortable apartment by myself near Den Haag Centraal Station, nearby which there is a gaint park where I can always see a lot of people walking their dogs. As a bonus, there is also a deer park. I prefer to walk our fluffy friends there in the park, or somewhere nearby if he/she has a 'go-to' place :-)  

Good to know 
- I can go for walks 1-3 times per day (morning & afternoon), at least 30 minutes each time, or longer if needed.  
- For day care & one-night boarding (1 dog only): I will be with the dog the whole day; For multiple-night boarding (1 dog only), I can be with the dog all the time except when I need to do grocery shopping (max. 1 hour). (My job doesn't require me to work from the office, so I can be with the dog as much as needed) 
- Dogs can stay in every corner of my apartment except my bed! 
 - Home visits take approx. 30 mins (can be longer if needed upon consultation), and I'm also willing to water plants :-)

U kunt erop vertrouwen dat uw hond/kat bij mij in een veilige, liefdevolle en verantwoordelijke omgeving verblijft, zodat u met een gerust hart van huis kunt zijn. Naast mijn studie heb ik een flexibel rooster, waardoor ik voldoende tijd heb om uw huisdier de aandacht en zorg te geven die het verdient. Ik bied hondenuitlaatservice, dagopvang, logeren bij mij thuis én oppas aan huis, zodat u altijd een optie kunt kiezen die het beste bij u en uw huisdier past. Ik woon in een rustige buurt in Hellevoetsluis, omringd door veel groen en fijne wandelgebieden. Hierdoor kunnen honden genieten van ontspannen en veilige wandelingen. Of het nu om een hond of kat gaat, ik zorg ervoor dat ieder huisdier zich veilig, comfortabel en geliefd voelt, zodat u met een gerust hart van huis kunt. De veiligheid en het welzijn van uw huisdier staan bij mij altijd voorop. Voor iedere reservering bespreek ik graag de routine, behoeften en eventuele bijzonderheden, zodat ik mijn zorg volledig kan afstemmen op uw huisdier. Of de opvang nu bij mij thuis of bij u thuis is, ik zorg voor een rustige, veilige en liefdevolle omgeving. Rondom mijn huis zijn er bovendien veel groene wandelroutes waar honden heerlijk kunnen wandelen.

While living in a shared home, I also took care of my flatmate’s dog (an Indochina Dingo) whenever she was away. I work as a Data Analyst from 9 to 5. Since I work from home three days a week—usually Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—I spend a lot of time at home. On weekends, I enjoy staying active, exercising both outdoors and at home, especially with several parks near my apartment. I love interacting with pets—talking to them, playing, and making sure they feel comfortable and cared for. At home, they’re free to move around and relax, with the only rule being that they’re not allowed on the bed work as a Data Analyst from 9 to 5. Since I work from home three days a week—usually Monday, Wednesday, and Friday—I spend a lot of time at home. On weekends, I enjoy staying active, exercising both outdoors and at home, especially with several parks located near my apartment. I live in an apartment building in a neighborhood that’s home to many pet owners. The area has plenty of nearby parks and is known for being safe, quiet, and very pet-friendly. Inside, my home offers enough space for dogs to move around comfortably, play in the living room, and explore the rest of the house.

Over: I have taken care of friends dogs on multiple occasions, with them staying over night. I also enjoy walking a dog for as long as they need. I also have experience with seniour dog care. I currently work 2 times a week from home and have weekends free, so I can keep your pet company full time during those 4 days. I have a protected balcony and access to 3 parks nearby my home, so I am happy to take your pet on a walk for as long as needed. To avoid hurting the dog, I have a preference to carrying them upstairs.

Over: Van jongs af aan heb ik een natuurlijke band met honden ik begon dan al met honden uitlaat service. Ik heb ervaring met verschillende karakters en leeftijden, en weet hoe belangrijk duidelijkheid, geduld en beweging zijn. Momenteel train ik actief een Border Collie, wat mij veel heeft geleerd over consequent zijn, positieve training en het bieden van structuur. Ik zorg met aandacht, energie en liefde. Of het nu gaat om lange wandelingen, spelen of juist rust en knuffelmomenten. Ik pas mij aan aan wat uw hond nodig heeft. Bij mij is uw hond in betrouwbare en betrokken handen. Momenteel werk ik niet en wil ik wel nog bezig zijn met dingen waar ik om geef. Dus heb ik alle tijd om de dieren zoveel mogelijk aandacht en liefde te geven. Ik ben flexibel en pas mijn zorg volledig aan aan de behoeften van uw hond of kat. Zo beschik ik over een bench voor honden, meerdere kamers die kunnen dienen als rustige plekken, en een beschutte tuin waar dieren veilig kunnen spelen en ontspannen. De omgeving hier is ook heel toegankelijk en fijn voor honden. Leuke wandelgebieden. Mijn eigen Border Collie is sociaal en kan goed grenzen aanvoelen, wat zorgt voor een harmonieuze omgeving. Voor katten die minder gewend zijn aan honden kan ik gemakkelijk aparte ruimtes creëren, zodat iedereen zich veilig en comfortabel voelt. Ik ben in principe altijd thuis en zorg ervoor dat het verblijf van uw huisdier zo aangenaam en stressvrij mogelijk is, met veel aandacht, liefde en persoonlijke zorg.

Over: Hi! I'm Jess and I am a dog mom to 12-year-old Siberian Husky, Luna. She is a sweet, energetic, confident dog who loves all kinds of people and other dogs. She has lived and traveled all over the U.S. (over 20 states!) and now has made her way with us across the ocean to The Netherlands. Even before becoming a Rover sitter, I cared for friends' and neighbors' dogs on many occasions including a beagle, a husky and a golden retriever and grew up with shih tzu and a cockapoo, who I loved to play with and walk around the neighborhood. Before moving to The Netherlands, we most recently lived in Richmond, Virginia and enjoyed walking the many urban hiking trails and parks together. Since I started pet sitting through Rover, I have stayed with and looked after all of different kinds of pups including senior pups, puppies, and all different sizes of dogs from toy to large. My husband is also a Rover sitter and will sometimes accompany me. David has always been a dog lover and loves to give my clients some extra attention while you’re away. He is also a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran and as such is very good under pressure/does not hesitate to act when dealing with anything out of the ordinary like illness or injury. My clients and I are very lucky to have him by my side when he does come along during bookings. About My Services: I am confident with standard commands in English and am learning some in Dutch as well. I also speak French and am happy to learn and practice commands in any language that suits your pet. All of my services are customizable to your pets needs, but below is a list of what is typically included in my Standard Rate with and without overnight stay, as well as my Constant Care Rate, which I have limited availability to accept, but will consider if I am available and your pet’s needs require it. Charges will be communicated up front before confirming the booking. I work remotely and part-time and have plenty of flexibility to accommodate your pet’s unique routine and needs during the week or on the weekend. <~~>~~<~~>~~<~~>~~<~~> Pet and Pet Sitter Safety: I have stayed with dogs who have easy access to a fenced outdoor space and with those who do not, so I am comfortable with ensuring leashes and/or gates are always secure. I’ve also stayed with dogs who are crated and am comfortable with crate commands. For their safety, I highly recommend crating puppies under 2 years old and any dog with a pattern of chewing or swallowing household items (remotes, pillows, etc.) when you are not home. Crate-trained pets will be crated per the owner’s instructions. Having an 11-year-old husky means I have had my fair share of experience with unexpected veterinary visits and emergencies. I am comfortable communicating symptoms to veterinary professionals with thorough details as needed. I have years of experience monitoring pets’ symptoms when they are sick, providing at home first aid, and acting quickly when additional care is needed. Veterinary Care & Emergency Transport Policy: While veterinary care and especially emergency veterinary care is a rare circumstance of a booking, pets can be unpredictable. When a medical facility advises veterinary care based on a description of symptoms over the phone, pet sitter will advise seeking veterinary care. If pet owner objects to seeking veterinary care when medically necessary, pet owner will be responsible for either taking over care of their pet themselves or securing a different caregiver expeditiously. To ensure the pet sitter is adequately compensated in extenuating circumstances, please be advised that for any unexpected or emergency travel or transport, pet sitter will provide receipts and apply a charge for reimbursement of costs incurred to your booking. An additional charge will also be applied to the cost of your booking at an hourly rate starting at the time of departure to the vet and ending at the time of either arrival to your home or, if your pet is required to stay at the vet, departure from the vet + time it takes to travel to the pet sitter’s home from the vet. This will include any additional trips back and forth to and from the vet to visit or pick up your pet based on the roundtrip to the vet from pet sitter’s or your home. Hourly rates are as follows: 8am-5pm: €10/hr 5pm-10pm: €12/hr 10pm-8am: €16/hr Holidays & Weekends: €18/hr *veterinary emergency room visit wait times can exceed 8 hours on weekends and holidays Cleaning & Vehicle Damage Policy: If pet sitter is required to clean up bodily fluids due to illness (vomit, urine, blood, diarrhea, etc) in order to maintain a safe environment in your home, their own home, or their personal vehicle, a one-time fee of €40 will be applied to your booking. The pet sitter will also require reimbursement by the pet owner for any cleaning supplies that are not readily available in the pet owner’s home. Injury To Pet Sitter Policy: If, under any circumstance, the pet sitter is injured by a pet, the pet sitter will require reimbursement for related medical expenses by the pet owner.
