Availability

I’m home all the time as I work remote. If I’m out of the house, I’ll mark the days unavailable. I have three bedrooms so dogs can have quiet space of their own or come chill with me while I work.

Information Nancy L. would like to know about your pet

We prefer large breed dogs. Dogs from the same home seem to adjust better when the owners are away. We prefer only to take small breeds if they come with another big dog. Before we meet, can you answer NO to these? X If male, is he still intact? X Has the dog ever left a pet sitter’s care? X Is the dog aggressive toward children? X Have they been aggressive toward men? X Are there any wounds or healing wounds? And yes to these? > Do they have a tag with their phone number on it? > Do they know command words like sit, wait, or leave it? > Are they potty trained?

A typical day

We allow couch time anytime and have a giant bean bag bed they all take over. During the day, we give them access to the yard and supervise chase, tug of war, digging and even just smiling at the sunshine. If the dog is well trained and not a risk to run away, leashed walks are available morning and evening (and mid-day if it’s the weekend).

Pet care experience

Dogs are the best! I’ve raised a lab, a pit bull and even a mix from puppies. My childhood dogs were a lab and cockapoo so I’m used to large and medium dogs. It’s a joy to have my home open where dogs feel right at home … on the furniture, running through the patio and back yard. Funny fact … I’ve been peed on twice at a dog park, once by a Great Dane! 🤣 My teenage son (who wants a dog of every breed!) would help give cuddles and playtime on the weekends. I used gentle training methods (and lots of cheerios) with my puppies. With our previous dog, we took the PetSmart training course with our lab mix and that was really helpful. Our home and lifestyle are best suited for larger dogs. I work from home. Dogs need play time and connection as well as their own little space. Whatever they’re feeding schedule is, I would stick to that so it feels as close to their home life as it can. We never feed human food (unless directed by you) and discourage begging from the table by keeping their food near the kitchen. Our neighborhood is safe to walk if longer jaunts are called for. The door to the back porch and to the fenced yard are open when we are home. Some dogs enjoy digging holes and chasing squirrels on the fence line! The perimeter of the fence is secure and all dogs come inside when we leave the house. They just have free reign to choose when they go out and come in if we’re here with them. We have tennis balls, a frisbee to play fetch and ropes for tug of war. Occasionally, a sock is sacrificed to the game. Whatever your dog’s schedule is, we can accommodate it and they’ll be in the cuddle pile with us anytime they want. My dogs were always crate trained so I’m confident in helping a dog have their safe space and have plenty of room to set them up. I don’t currently have extra crates, so please bring yours if your dog is comfortable with that. Dog feeding time and space will be private so there’s no sneaking food or territory issues. Basically, think of this as granny’s house. I might spoil them. I won’t send them back sugared up though!

Nancy was incredible with Broly! He stayed only a weekend with her and was very sad when he came home! She gave him all the cuddles and loving he wanted. Nancy was easy to communicate with and provided multiple updates throughout the entire weekend. 10/10!

Nancy did an amazing job with our 2 pups. She sent us pictures everyday and even a daily video of them having a great time. She has a good size backyard for them to run and play. Definitely will return to her when we need a sitter.

Nancy went above and beyond caring for Rome and Braxton during a very stressful and unexpected situation on my end. She kept me updated with photos/videos, made sure they were safe and cared for, and handled a last-minute complication with patience and professionalism even when it significantly inconvenienced her schedule. I truly appreciate the care she showed my dogs and her communication throughout everything. Thank you again, Nancy.
