Pet care experience

WFH Dog Dad

I’ve been the primary caretaker for my dog for the past 7 years, handling everything from daily walks and feedings to baths and medication. I walk him at least four times a day and try to get in a longer mile-ish walk a few times a week so he can explore at his own pace. I’ve also cared for several friends’ dogs for multi-day stays ranging from a couple of days to over a week. Between that and growing up around pets, I’m very comfortable reading a dog’s personality and routine. My wife has lived with dogs her whole life as well, so our home is very dog friendly. Dogs are welcome on the couch and our own dog sleeps in bed with us. I’ve also done a fair bit of basic training with him. I taught him “wait” (stay), helped him get comfortable with paw cleaning after walks, and even set up a little “dog nest” on the bed that he now uses as his sleeping spot. I’m attentive to routines, meds, and the little details that make pets feel comfortable.

We booked with Khaled on somewhat short notice and also extended our trip a few days. He was responsive, flexible and accommodating from the start. For two and a half weeks Khaled provided frequent and consistent updates, sending multiple pictures and videos every day. We never had to wonder, let alone worry, about what our Cooper was up to. Cooper had a great time running and playing in their yard and cuddling and snoozing in their laps. We greatly appreciated Khaled’s care for Cooper as well as his communication with us!

Khaled was a great sitter for our senior dog. Our senior pup Zeno has a few special needs, including a slipped disc in his back and reduced hearing, so we’re always careful about who we trust. Khaled was very understanding of his limitations and paid close attention to making sure Zeno was comfortable and well cared for. There was a good balance of calm energy, attentiveness, and responsibility that our senior dog needs. We felt completely at ease knowing Zeno was in good hands and would absolutely trust him to watch Zeno again.

Kal has watched my dog at his house a few times and it’s always been a great experience. He’s easy to communicate with, clearly enjoys being around dogs, and I always felt comfortable leaving my dog in his care for a few days. My dog came back happy and well taken care of, which is really all you can ask for. I’d definitely recommend Kal to anyone looking for a reliable sitter.

I’m happy to recommend Khaled as a pet caregiver on Rover. He’s incredibly responsible and attentive with my dog, Zeno. I’ve seen firsthand how well he cares for his own dog, Miles.Miles is always happy, well-exercised, and clearly adored. Khaled is reliable, and very in tune with what pets need to feel safe and comfortable. I’m confident any pet in his care will be treated like family.

Khaled was great watching our dog! He was communicative, punctual, and friendly. He kept us updated with a few funny photos while we were away. He also kept the mail and brought in our packages! I would book him again!

Schedule

I work from home, so pet care fits very naturally into my day. I’m around most of the time and able to give dogs attention, bathroom breaks, and supervision throughout the day. Our normal routine is a morning outing, one in the afternoon, another around 5–6pm, and a final one around 9pm before bed. If a dog needs to go out sooner or starts pawing at the door, I’m always happy to take them out. I try to fit in longer walks when the weather and work schedule allow, usually in the evenings. Because I’m home during the day, pets aren’t left alone for long stretches and get plenty of interaction.

Safety, trust & environment

I work from home and have a wrap-around fenced yard, so dogs have plenty of safe space to wander and get fresh air. I keep a close eye on them when they’re outside and follow their normal routines as closely as possible. Inside, dogs are welcome to relax and make themselves comfortable. Our home is very dog friendly, and we’re used to having pets around. If a dog needs to be crated for sleeping or while we step out briefly, we do have a crate available. I’m attentive to feeding schedules, medications, and any specific instructions from owners. I’m also happy to send photos or videos throughout the stay so you can see how your pet is doing.

Pets

A typical day

Typically go on four 10-15 min walks per day where I'll let the dogs sniff around as much as they want. We play fetch, tug of war, chase, and other dog-classics. We have a fenced-in yard, which our dog loves to explore new smells in.

0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
Spayed and neutered dogs only
No females in heat
Crate-trained dogs only
Khaled can host up to 2 pets per night
I'm only accepting dogs 30lbs an under. As we do have a dog, Miles Davis (25lb friendly mini-schnauzer), we'll want to set up a meeting ahead of time just so the dogs can get to meet and check the vibe.
