📅 Availability ❤️🐶 ❤️🐈🐶 ❤️🐈PAST CLIENTS: Even if my calendar looks unavailable, MESSAGE ME ANYWAY, and we will see if I can work with you. Especially during holiday times, as I am usually around! This is largely for boarding, house-sitting, or drop-in visits. Before relocating to North Carolina, I was a star sitter in Boston, MA, where I built long-term relationships with many repeat clients who entrusted me with their beloved pets time and time again. My background in both teaching and animal care fuels my approach: structured, empathetic, and full of joy!

🏠 How I Care for Pets in My Home and in Yours Whether your pet is staying with me or I’m caring for them in your home, you can expect attentive, personalized, and respectful care every step of the way. In My Home: I have a cozy home with a large yard—perfect for safe outdoor time and quick potty breaks. It is partially fenced. So, outdoor time will either occur on walks or on longlines. While the yard is large, I know most pets love a change of scenery, so we also enjoy leisurely walks, when appropriate, adventures to local parks H. Boyd isn't far) or dog parks. I always follow the owner’s preferences for activity level, routines, and socialization. Your pet will get plenty of affection, structured care, and attention—just like one of my own. In Your Home: When house sitting, I pride myself on being the most respectful guest you could ask for. I keep things tidy, follow all instructions to the letter, and am so focused on caring for your pet that your home may be cleaner than when you left it. I understand that your pet feels safest in their own space, so I work to maintain a calm, consistent environment while you’re away. Whether it’s watering plants, bringing in the mail, or keeping to a special feeding or medication schedule, I’ve got it covered. To be clear, as a house sitter, I can stay overnight, but only when extremely necessary because my own dogs need tending. The window of time would be 6-7 hours max overnight. If I have a previously booked boarding animal, I won't be able to stay overnight, so clients with furbabies who are sufficient for at least 8 hours are optimal matches. In general, I stay as long as needed to ensure your animal family members are cared for the way you prefer. The animal always comes first! 😊🥰 I work out all the communication prior to your departure and stay in communication as much or as little as you request while you are away. Ultimately, I take my cues from you and your pet’s needs—always prioritizing comfort, safety, and peace of mind.

Information Heather G. would like to know about your pet
Before we meet, I’d love to know— What helps your pet feel safe, happy, and comfortable in new situations? Are there any routines, triggers, quirks, or medical needs I should be aware of to give them the best care possible?
A typical day
Get ready for tail-wagging adventures and brain-boosting fun! As a veteran Special Educator and current specialist assisting adults with disabilities who has always shared a love for learning (and wagging tails), I bring the same thoughtful approach to pet care. I incorporate scent training techniques, mental stimulation games, and obedience practice to keep your pup’s mind sharp and spirit happy. Weather too hot for a hike or park? No problem—we’ll take field trips to dog-friendly spots like Lowe’s, Marshall’s, or TJ Maxx for some cool air and exciting new sniffs! For the more social pups, hikes and dog parks offer a perfect mix of exercise and enrichment. Every activity is tailored to your pet’s personality, energy, and comfort level—because their well-being is my top priority.

Pet care experience
🐶 About Me: School is out for summer, so I have full-time availability until the Fall❣️ Heather is a Scottish flower that grows in the wild, so I thrive outside in nature amongst animals! ꫂ❁ 🌿🌲I am an experienced, nurturing pet professional surrounded by animals since childhood. I am in process of receiving dog training credentials and have a multitude of experience with behavior training from personal research and care for my friends and family dogs. In short, high support needs is my specialty❣️😁 I can assist you with: ▪️Senior pets ▪️Special-needs pets ▪️Anxious pets ▪️Medicated pets ▪️High-intelligence working breeds (Belgians, Aussies, Border Collies, German Shepherds) From dogs and cats to birds, bunnies, and even rescued wildlife, I’ve dedicated my life to loving and caring for animals of all kinds. Before relocating to North Carolina, I held star sitter status in Boston, MA, where I built long-term relationships with many repeat clients who entrusted me with their beloved pets habitually and consistently. My background in both Special Education teaching and animal care fuels my approach: structure, empathy, and joy! 🏡 At home, I share my life with: 🐺 Gherkin, my brilliant (nearly) 5-year-old Belgian Groenenendael, completing: Basic Obedience, Canine Good Citizen, and two levels of Scent Training, and "work" in the community. We begin service dog training this summer. 🐶 Gunnar, a sweet, fun-loving, 5-year-old Miniature Australian Shepherd who is mastering obedience basics with speed, and makes every person or dog his friend. Both are respectful, social, and have helped every boarder we have invited into our home! It is amazing how intuitive they are to all needs! Whether you need: • Boarding • House-sitting • Drop-In Visits • Dog Walking …your pet will be treated with the same love and attention I give my own. I’m incredibly detail-oriented, quick to notice subtle changes in behavior or health, and I always strive to keep your pet’s routine as consistent and comforting as possible. Whether your companion is energetic and playful or shy and in need of gentle care, I adjust my approach to meet their needs. I’ve also lived and worked around a wide variety of animals, including: 🐾 Bunnies, chinchillas, guinea pigs 🕊️ Birds 🐿️ Rehabilitated wildlife 🐕 Dogs with training or behavioral needs With me, you can trust that your pet is in calm, capable, and loving hands.

Reviews
Our first Rover experience and Heather was great!! Great communication. Our pups were very well taken care of. We have two very different dogs, one older with anxiety and one energetic puppy, but Heather did a great job making sure their needs were met and went above and beyond to make them happy! We will definitely be using Rover and Heather again!

Heather was amazing! I don’t use a pet sitter often so I was a little nervous but Heather was excellent with communicating during the stay and made me feel at ease. Liberty loved playing with Gherkin and Gunnar (heather’s dogs) and did not want to leave! She was flexible with drop off and pick up times and sent lots of videos and pictures and text updates during the stay.

Heather is a great sitter! She communicates well and sends lots of pics. My dog loves spending time with Heather and is very comfortable when staying at her home.

Heather is wonderful with our senior Pug. She communicates daily and Penny always comes back to us happy and very content.
