Pet care experience

No ruff days :)

Taking care of pets is something I've been doing almost my whole life. I began professionally pet sitting in high school with some dogs and cats in my neighborhood. Then in my second year of college, I joined Rover and got to petsit for families all across Maryland. It has been a dream of mine to foster pets someday, and this is helping me become more adept to animal behavior, young/senior care, and temperament. I grew up with my dog Clara, who inspires me every day to keep taking care of animals, and I have a sweet-spot for senior dogs and cats.

Safety, trust & environment

Growing up, my pet Clara was afraid of thunderstorms. She would be able to tell us a storm was coming before any of us humans would know about it. She would get scared and hide. My dad always told me that if I act scared too, she will become more frightened. But if you are relaxed and calm, it might help her understand that everything is okay, and there is nothing to be afraid of. So I have this mindset whenever I take care of dogs and cats today. I also like to reinforce good behavior through lots of praise and treats. They love when someone is cheering them on :)

Elizabeth was great with my cat Poe. I loved the daily pictures and she was great even with a last minute food change. Poe seemed to love her and was very excited when she came by!

Schedule

I will be available on weekends and weekdays to take care of your pets! I am in my last year of a Masters program in Biotechnology, and will be taking one class in the fall, and one class in the spring. Luckily, my course this fall is primarily online, so I will be able to join class online while doing house-sitting. I have choir rehearsals on Wednesday nights typically, which will kick up in November/December for our Christmas Concert Season. I will update my calendar again at the end of December to reflect my Spring 2026 schedule. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions or would like to book :)

If I am walking a dog, I need to know beforehand what their triggers are on walks. I need to know how they behave around small children, other people, dogs, bikes, cars, or even if we see deer or squirrels. This is why a meet and greet is so important to me - it allows us to see if our match is a good fit for both me and the pet. For kitties, I also need to know their triggers in their domain. I would like to be aware if they are scared of loud noises so I can be mindful of the noises I make, or if they scratch/bite me if I do something they don't like. This is another great reason for a meet and greet. I have learned that establishing clear boundaries between me and clients is very important to me, so communicating those boundaries is crucial!
