Safety, trust & environment
Prior to our first appointment, I’ll meet with you (and meet your pet and see their care environment) so that we can discuss your pet’s individual needs and go over any concerns you have with regards to safety. I take detailed notes during these “meet and greet” sessions so don’t be alarmed when you see me typing on my phone while we talk! As a side note - I know meeting people online can be scary. If you’d prefer, we can start with a phone/video call or a meeting in a public place if that’s your comfort.
Information Caitlin A. would like to know about your pet
During our initial meet and greet session, I will ask about your preferred vet (including for after hours emergencies). Hopefully I won’t need this information, but I find it’s always easier to discuss it ahead of time so we don’t have to scramble if an actual emergency comes up while you’re away. Also, for insurance reasons, we will need to discuss vaccination history and flea/tick preventatives - if you can have those records handy, that makes the process much smoother. At minimum that info will be required prior to our booking start date.

Pet care experience
I’ve been taking care of animals since I was a little kid - it was such a personal passion that I studied Animal Science in college, where I earned a BS degree in the subject from Cornell University in 2010. During my high school and college years, I spent summers working at vet clinics as well as the local barn where I grew up riding. Those experiences allowed me to expand my animal care skills beyond what I had learned from personal pet ownership. After college, I was the on-site manager of the boarding barn in Maryland where I had worked since I was 16 - our business had approximately 50 horses boarded with us at any given time. Living there for a few years gave me a unique perspective on animal care and I gained invaluable experience - both in navigating client relationships as well as learning how to handle myself during animal health emergencies. Before moving to Virginia to start grad school at Virginia Tech, I worked as a research scientist for Pennvet in the Philly area for nearly a decade, with a focus on projects related to animal health and welfare. I pride myself on my experience and professionalism and look forward to working with you and your pet(s)! ———- Additionally: * Do you have a special needs dog or kitty? No problem! I have experience with giving SQ fluids (managed a CKD kitty of my own for a few years) as well as oral/transdermal medications and injectable insulin. * I also have experience with other animals beyond cats and dogs (bunnies, etc) - please include that information in your message to me and we can discuss details.

Reviews

Caitlin did a great job taking care of my cat while I was out of town. She sent detailed updates with photos and made a strong effort to connect with the cat during her daily visits. I would definitely choose her to watch my pet again.

Caitlin was so fabulous! I really appreciate her stepping up in a difficult time for my mom, and she was great with Maggie the cat.

Caitlin was AMAZING - so thorough and knowledgeable! The quality of her care and communication is unmatched on this app!

Very accommodating when we had issues!
