commented answer What are your recommendations for a small breed that does not shed and does well with children?

Shannon, thanks so much for the great info. And I was reading more about Italian Greyhounds and I also came to the determination that they would not be a good fit for our household. Also, yes, I am preferring a rescue! I should clarify. I'm actually OK with small-medium, probably nothing bigger than 35 pounds. I was doing a lot of reading last night and I'm actually fascinated with the Poodle mixes for their hypoallergenic/minimal shedding coats. Any knowledge there? I should also same I'm very experienced with dogs as I grew up with 2 myself and have always had a ton of animals. So this adventure is not new but I'm glad we're ready to get another.

Just had our first child who is now 10 months and she loves dogs. So we're looking to get another family member. Looking for a small breed that does not shed since we don't want the little one eating hair. In the running right now are Brussels Griffon, Cairn Terrier, and Italian Greyhound. Would love other recommendations!

Hi again, thanks so much for pointing this out. It is indeed an oversight and is being fixed.

answered a question how do I write a review?

On Rover? When your dog finishes their stay with your dog sitter, you will receive an email to leave a review for them.

Hi Guelda. Would you mind sending me a screen shot so I know exactly what you're talking about? matt@rover.com

commented answer Have you seen the new profile editing screens?

Thanks Carmen. We moderate the community regularly, but the weekend sometimes backs us up. Lately there has been an increase to these spammy posts, so we'll look into ways to prevent it.

Hi Dawn. Our desktop calendar definitely has some issues. Curious if you have the mobile app and if so, have you tried using the calendar there? It's much better on our mobile app.

asked a question Have you noticed new profile editing screens?

Hi Sitters,

I have a thread in the Using Rover topic asking for some feedback on our recent update to profile editing. These updates should make it easier for you to manage your services and profile info. I'd love your feedback on the main thread: Have you seen the new profile editing screens?

Thanks!

commented answer New 5% charge for dog owners?

You're welcome. We wanted to make sure our sitters were in the know of this, so that it was not a surprise if it came up in conversation.

answered a question New 5% charge for dog owners?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to jump in here and address the confusion. I'm a Product Manager here at Rover and was leading this rollout of a 5% fee for new dog owners. Coincidentally, I was also in charge of updating the Rover Q&A design a month ago to what you are using now! So, I love this community and also love that you all are talking about this because it shows you care.

We are indeed starting, in select cities, to charge a 5% fee to new owners joining Rover. This fee will never go over $25. When we made this call, we knew there would be some concerns and we take your feedback seriously. After much discussion and analysis, we came to the conclusion that this fee is an important step in our business growth.

First and foremost, it’s an industry-standard fee. Most companies with our business model (Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, TaskRabbit) all charge a fee of some sort. We feel ours is conservative and well below the norm.

This fee will not affect your take-home earnings as a sitter. It will only be charged to new owners, so your loyal repeat clients will not be charged anything extra.

While many don't think it has a huge impact to the service we provide you. It does. Rover has a very small team, and we have a lot of great things we want to do to improve the service for owners and sitters. This includes faster and even better support, huge improvements to our sitter tools, and ensured safety for pets everywhere.

Lastly, we are monitoring this very closely. We would not make the decision if we truly didn't feel it would benefit our community of sitters and owners in the long run. And I want to stress that, even with this fee, it is still very important to continue managing bookings through the site. 24/7 safety support, insurance with every stay, and the support of our awesome customer representative team you get with every stay is invaluable.

I'm happy to address any other questions.

-Matt

edited question How can I stop my dog barking at the same time my neighbors dog does?

Hi all, it's getting quite annoying when they bark at the same time. IF they hear something or see they go at it. So do all the other dogs. Any advice on how not to make mine bark with them?

commented answer Dog Birthday Celebration

That's a super cute picture!

answered a question How come all the sitters have five stars?

Hi Kirsten. Where do you live? Depending on your location, you may also want to give Rover Premier a try. They will assist you with finding a great sitter who should be available. If the service is available in your area, you should see a banner underneath the search input on Rover.com.

commented answer Is anyone else having problems with this new board format?

That's a good bug find Carmen. Bear with us and we will fix it soon. Thank you!

commented answer Is anyone else having problems with this new board format?

@Karen and all, we started with these 3 main categories because a majority of the questions fall into one of these 3. It does not mean we won't open more up in the future, and listening to your feedback can definitely influence that.

commented answer Is anyone else having problems with this new board format?

Hey all, great feedback and thank you for having this open discussion about it. @Cari, we've made the Sitter-to-Sitter section private like you suggested. Both Sitter-to-Sitter and Using Rover are specific to our Rover.com users, and both require sign in. The timestamp you mention will be fixed

answered a question Is anyone else having problems with this new board format?

Hi Karen,

I'm the Product Manager for Rover Q&A Community. I received your email, thank you for sending it! As you note, we've made some changes to the entire site to address some key issues in both user experience and functionality. But with changes always comes new issues and potential bugs. So, THANK YOU for sending your feedback and also for starting this thread. Hopefully more will answer.

The most significant change we made is categorizing our questions into 3 main types. Dog, Sitter, and Rover.com general questions. Your question (this one) is appearing at the top of the Sitter-to-Sitter questions since that is the type of question you asked. Do you see it at the top?

Your point about the Home button is totally valid, and we'll work to update that better based on expectations.

I'd love it if more people added to this thread to let us know what works and doesn't work.
