asked a question | What do you normally use for sending updates - regular text to the Rover number, the Rover app or your desktop? Once again I'm having issues sending texts to my clients Rover numbers. We have 3 dogs here from 2 different clients - I send daily updates with text/pics to the Rover number. Last night I get texts from both clients asking how are their dogs. I check online and I don't see my daily text updates so I feel like it's useless to call Rover since they won't see anything on their side. I used the app to send updates to both clients last night and apologized profusely because they were both very nervous about leaving their dogs (first time pet parents). I felt like a total idiot and wonder if this will impact getting a good review. Just wondering what others do to make sure their updates are actually updating :) Happy Holidays! |

commented answer | What do you do to get reviews for repeat stays? Thanks Laura - I think I'm getting the gist of what you are all saying - the reviews from repeat clients will just junk up the profile. I like the idea of asking every few months - sounds like a great plan. |
commented answer | What do you do to get reviews for repeat stays? I like the idea of the graphic asking for a review for the first stay. Thanks Jean for taking the time to reply - love to hear from the experts out there. |
commented answer | What do you do to get reviews for repeat stays? Thanks Cheryl - It does make sense. Thanks for your insight! |

asked a question | What do you do to get reviews for repeat stays? I'm in a very fortunate position to have several repeat clients. For example, in the first two weeks of December, we've had (3) repeat stays. Here's the issue - I'm having a hard time getting reviews for the repeat stays. It's been fairly easy to get reviews for first stays but not so much for repeats. I've been putting a small gift in the pups bag with a hand written thank you card - at the end of the note I ask for a review. I know when I looks at items on other sites - like Amazon - that I normally looks for recent review so I feel like having recent reviews is important. Or is it? Maybe it's really not. Just wondering if any other sitters have had similar experiences or what your thoughts are on the matter. Last but not least - Happy Holidays!! |
answered a question | Does anyone have a check list of things to bring with me for overnight stays at owners home? I normally send a text from the Rover dashboard (so I can cut and paste) with the following. Sometimes I change the wording around based on the pups but you get the gist. Hope this helps!! Chris We are looking forward to having XXXXX over for their stay. Here's a quick checklist of items that you may want to bring so they will be comfortable :) • Food/food bowls • Treats - if they have special treats otherwise we have a bunch • Bedding (blanket and/or bed) • Toys - we have a bunch of toys but favorites you can bring along • Collar/Harness & Leash • Crate (if crate trained) - we have two small crates and a big one but some dogs seems to prefer their own • Pads (for pad trained dogs) • Medication (if any) Everything on the list is optional other than the food. We have food but don’t want to change it and risk an upset stomach :) |
answered a question | How do you get in touch with another sitter? Hi Janice - I had the same issue and did exactly what you suggest: Set up a booking for my dog. Over the past summer I contacted 3-4 different sitters - most were excited to exchange info and one sitter not so much. Recently I reached out to a sitter in my neighborhood and we are splitting a stay for a dog during the holidays - I'm doing one week and she is doing the next. It's a win-win for us, the dog and the pet parents due to our schedules. I've sent requests to Rover a couple times for a way to contact but it hasn't happened yet. There is also the Rover.com Sitters Social Network on Facebook but so far no one is my area (Va Beach) is on there. Good luck! |

answered a question | How do I get another Premier Pet Insurance Dog Tag (only received 1 dog tag in the mail), if I will be sitting 2 dogs at once? I had the same issue & called support . They sent me another tag a few days later. I think there was a charge of $5 for the additional tag but I'm not sure if I was charged or not :) Good luck!! |
answered a question | How can we get to know other Rover sitters in our area? I love the Facebook group and this Q&A community. I'm not a regular contributor but I get so much out of reading through the different threads. I've have reached our to several sitters in my area but it was pretty clunky using the contact button. Plus I think at least one or two thought that I was attempting to spy. I would love to meet other sitters to refer as backups to regular clients when I am not available. I put in a support ticket to Rover asking about this but they also suggested the contact button. Maybe if more folks ask we will get a better response. I also put this in as a Big Idea to maybe that will get a little attention :) |

asked a question | How to add a second dog to a stay? I've had several clients put in only one dog when they are booking a stay for two dogs. Is there a way for me to add the second dog? I've suggested that they add but it seems like a lot of folks do the booking from their phones and don't want to go to their dashboard. In a couple cases I've changed the rate to the rate for two dogs but I'm not sure if that is the way to go. It looks strange and I'm wondering if both dogs would be covered by the Rover insurance if there was an issue. Suggestions? |

asked a question | Is anyone having issues with the replies/communication? I've had issues with replies during the past 24 hours. If I'm close to a computer, I tend to type in the reply in the inbox. It doesn't look like the replies are getting texted to the customer. I see it there in my thread on the computer and in the Rover app but not in the messaging thread on my phone. Very strange and making me a little crazy - plus I think I lost a customer yesterday because they thought I was ignoring. Then when I reply using a regular text message & I look at it on my computer/rover app, the text is all broken up. I'm not sure what is going on. Any one else having these type of issue during the past day or so? I had no problems on Monday - just started yesterday. |
answered a question | Sitter community? I'd also like to meet a few of the sitter in my area. I'd love to hear any ideas - I like the Facebook group idea. |
