answered a question | At what point does an Overnight Stay become an Overnight Stay+Daycare? I never charge daycare. I just don''t see any point to it. a couple bucks and most clients find it irritating. But I also have a 2 night minimum. I know situations are different, but I live near an international airport, so I get a lot of business travelers. Also as Walt stated, if you are going to charge daycare for late pick ups, then it needs to be stated on your profile and discussed prior to booking the stay. |
answered a question | How to get the smell out? Well I don't have carpet in my home. but that might help someone who does. Over a year later... ONA! I can not endorse this product enough! Ona gel and ona spray. I have 2 of the ona gel containers. they are ugly, so i just dumped the gel into mason jars. now i can adjust how open they are a little better and they look a little better sitting out. and the ona spray. I carry it like a gun! no but for real. i use in on furniture and in the air. I will mist it over air vents after I clean. Last weekend I had 900 pounds of dogs! mine is 200 mastiff add pit bulls and GSD and boxers. I often have clients ask how I keep the smell in my house so fresh now!!! ONA! ONA! seriously, just go to Amazon! It is a miracle! (Oh, I use the fresh linen, not the pro. The pro is nice but too"industrial" smelling) ONA! |

answered a question | Does the owner see the reviews I leave after a stay? nope. those are just your notes |
answered a question | Can't get a booking...Help? I have found that the 1st booking is the hardest. Try the park or walking your own pup. ALWAYS carry business cards. I wear my rover shirt as much as possible. And enjoy. Offer to do walking for friends and family. they can then give oyou a review as a verified stay which will help get you off and running. |
answered a question | How can I stop the dog I am watching from playfully biting me and barking at me? sour apple spray on your hands or where they bite? |
answered a question | House sitting rate confusion? I once looked at it that way and, you just can't take out 8 hours of sleep. and subtract all the time sitting on the couch cuddling with the pups. yes it is still seems low. but A.) you are not trapped by a time clock at this job B.)most situations you can still run out and go shopping or dinner with a friend, go to work(if you do have a regular job as well). etc... C.) It is your rules. discuss them with the owner. |
answered a question | Is there a way to get sitters to update their profiles? yup, try Rover Go. They will help filter out the sitters to find the best match for you |
answered a question | how to "start" a dog boarding visit? I am a boarder! no need to start and stop on the AP. There is no check in on Boarding. just make sure to send the owner a few pics THROUGH THE AP so your ratings stay high and enjoy your pup guests! |
answered a question | how do i apply for jobs? Promote! I started with cards at the dog park and a rover t-shirt! i wore ti on walks and passed out cards. I got a friend to give me my 1st stay, which got a verified stay and 5 stars, and from there I just promote my self when I can. |
answered a question | When i signed up for rover i had two clients ask my services . I rejected them because i did not have a car because it was being repaired. Now i no longer have clients wanting my service. How can i get noticed as a sitter again? when you hit a slump you will need to re-market yourself. I suggest getting a friend or 2 to book a walk with you and then post a review. these are now verified stay reviews and will help get your business in motion again. dog parks and other dog friendly venues are a great place to had out cards and promote. I suggest a rover shirt when you do. it adds to the level of professionalism you show and attracts the curious people |
answered a question | Is there a way to see the requested itinerary for a requested booking before accepting the booking? the itinerary pops up as soon as it's booked. You can see the request and edit it prior to payment. |
answered a question | Does the owner see the review I leave? no they do not |
answered a question | How do I cancel my membership? Membership? As a sitter or Owner? As an owner there is nothing to cancel. You are not charged as a member only for reservations. As a sitter, if you want to remove your profile, set it to all Away, and then call rover to completely shut it down. |
commented question | What should I do about an unresponsive sitter? you can cancel after you have paid. check their cancellation policy(each sitter gets to set their policy to one of 3 settings). If it is strict you may have to call Rover for more assistance. but I would definitely Move on. If there is a reason she can't respond timely, she needs to tell you why |
answered a question | Why does my dog shake his head a lot? i agree with paige. my pup did this with a lose tooth when he was losing baby teeth. one was kinda stuck and driving him nutty. yanked it and he was a happy boy |

answered a question | How do you create and present a bring your dog to work policy? My dog is an ESA and I work in an office. so it is no big deal. Although I only bring him on Fridays. Most people found that he is a welcome part of out team. |
answered a question | What do you think is the most common dog name? Max, Sadie, maggie, homer |
answered a question | Best tips for sitting barkers? I've mentioned this several times. but try a old fashion dog whistle for any behavior issues. I love mine and works on barkers, when they play to rough, or even ... mounting males. |
answered a question | I haven't got any bookings yet, I've posted to facebook, craigslist, the neighborhood site, and still nothing. I've been on here for almost a month? Honestly, get a friend or someone to let you do a walk or overnight. have them use your promo code and give you a 5 star verified visit rating. make sure to take a picture and post through the ap. do everything even correspondence through the ap. After you get that 5 star on your profile it will be easier to pick up new clients. Also make sure you take Rover 101. it adds a badge to your profile and you get a promo code for a free box of business cards through the rover store. Take your business cards everywhere. I pass out a ton at the dog park and when I go to petCo and such. |
answered a question | Have you advertised through other pet sitting services? I'm on DV and I get nothing there. one request that didn't even remotely fall in my guidelines, and a Rover client/sitter trying to get in without paying puppy rates. so i took neither... that is in 3 months |
answered a question | Sitters or owners who have a yard - how do you keep it nice? I have a problem with grass burns from urine I put this in one corner and they seem to be doing most the unrinating there now. https://www.chewy.com/simple-solution... Also to keep gophers and moles out I got this I have one in each corner, so my neighbors and I both benefit http://www.pulsetv.com/prodinfo.asp?n... |
