commented question Why won't my dog poop outside?

1. Keep him in a small space or kennel when unsupervised 2. Be DILIGENT about setting a schedule for the dog and when he goes outside. This includes feeding times. When you feed at the same times each day, you'll be able to predict when he needs to go 3. REWARD & praise as soon as he poos outside!

commented answer Why doesn't Rover let Sitters share info about dogs?

This is how it seems. We don't even get compensation for our stuff being ruined, but the clients do. Rover takes a CUT from our services! The least they can do is work with us to make the experience good for everyone!

commented question Why doesn't Rover let Sitters share info about dogs?

Seriously. I've decided to close my house to new clients (repeats only) because I'm sick of the owners not telling me everything about the dogs and having my place trashed, or humped continuously or just unable to leave my house because of the severe anxiety of a dog.

commented question I know some dogs suffer from separation anxiety. Does it help if the dog has the company of another dog or a cat?

Nope. I just watched a dog over the weekend who would not stop crying the entire time. I have my own dog who would try to engage him in play, but the dog would just cry and cry and miss his owner. I tried everything. We really need dog reviews to be shared between sitters!!!

asked a question What does it mean if you don't see "Book Again" under Past Stays?

I do not see this option on one out of 10 of my last stays. This person reviewed me highly previously and then the dog stayed with me again. I was just checking out my past stays and noticed that every stay has the button to "book again" except for this dog. Did they rate me poorly or something? Just wondering what that means.

Thanks.

asked a question Sitter Saftey -- Have you ever felt unsafe visiting a client?

Hi, everyone -

I'm relatively new to Rover. I recently did my first stranger at-home visit (not my own home) and things were really off from the get go. I can't really put my finger on it, but my intuition just would not stop nudging me. Lots of changes were made throughout the stay (time, place, circumstances). I usually do meet & greets but this person was visiting from out of town and I was watching their dog at their AirBnB. I wish there were a way that we can make notes on clients for others, or block someone from booking with you in the future.

commented answer Traveling to Dog Sit - Do you Charge More?

Thanks, he didn't put in his address when he contacted me, so it wasn't clear where he was until right before booking. I should have asked earlier, but it was my first time ever being contacted by someone so far away, so I just assumed he was in my radius.

commented answer Traveling to Dog Sit - Do you Charge More?

Thank you. I wanted to be helpful for sure, but I didn't realize they were so far until after much of the sitting info was discussed. I'm okay with sitting for this client now, but I am definitely going to have different rules in the future!

commented answer Traveling to Dog Sit - Do you Charge More?

Thank you. I did add some info to my profile indicating I would venture out of my service area for price-per-mile fee.

asked a question Traveling to Dog Sit - Do you Charge More?

Hi, All -

I'm a relatively new sitter on Rover, but have been sitting for others for a few years now. I recently had a request from someone to watch their dog for a few hours on two separate days (no overnights). While this is totally awesome, they are staying 45 minutes away and are just in town for the weekend, vacationing. I definitely want to help out, but between gas money, the rover cut, and taxes, the time I will be spending at someone's else's house doesn't seem cost-effective. Do you charge more for far travel? Do you take a hit money-wise to build good rapport with the community? Not sure what the best course of action is here for future clients. Thanks!
