answered a question Security cameras in the clients home--would you be comfortable?

Always on a case by case basis. I usually never mind the cameras.

In a few instances i actually rather prefer, that way i can teach the pups new tricks and positive behavior during my stay. Then the clients can go back and look at my techniques and see what worked and what didn't continue the positive reinforcement and teach the pup new tricks on their own.

Although there was one client I went to do a meet and greet with that I declined because he was .......... ill just say not giving out a very positive vibe. Also informed me there were cameras in every room of the house.

asked a question Have you ever had complications with another sitter? Advice, other stories, and how you handled them?

I've never had to ask for advice before, but there is a first time for every thing.

I am sitting for a client who has a pup they just rescued and was diagnosed with health issues, which is one of my specialities, and why they hired me. The clients parents live just down the street and have a non rover sitter for their dog. The entire family is away on holiday. The other sitter has been with the parents for many many years and seems quite nice at first meeting however.....

It was pre arranged by the family for us to meet and for her to watch my pup if I were to leave for more than a set number of hours.
I was about to leave for a short time to have Holiday dinner with my family. And even though it wasn't needed, the other sitter offered to have my pup come hang out so the dogs could have play time together. I accepted the offer so I wouldn't have to rush through dinner. I kept her updated, and let her know when i was on my way back. When I picked up my pup everything seemed fine. We chatted normally about scheduling and got more acquainted. Until....

I got a call from my client at 10:30pm worried that I had been "gone all day" (Which was not the case.) As well as asking many other frantic questions about my work itinerary, which had changed slightly that the other sitter needed to approve. Which she assured me was not a problem, and I told her I would inform my client of the changes the next day so I didn't bother them on Christmas day.

Now It seems the other sitter called and had fed copious amounts of very misinformation to my client via their parents. Due to the questions they were asking and what they had said she told them. I did my best to calm, and reassure my client, and very politely corrected the misinformation. But due to their long time relationship with this sitter I'm afraid this doesn't look well on my end. I'm going to continue being nice and professional with the other sitter and providing my client with daily updates for the rest of the time i am here. However I am anticipating a bad review from this incident. I have never had an occurrence like this.

Should I contact rover so I can document this incident if a bad review occurs?

Are there any tips any one can give me on this issue?

I have over a week left and am trying to prevent any further "miscommunication."

answered a question How can I remove a photo off a clients message that shows up as a stay?

Unfortunately this is an on going issue. I've had it as well. You will need to contact rover they are super friendly about it and take them down as soon as you tell them about the glitch.

answered a question What tricks do you use to get your pup to potty in wet weather...even when it stops raining?

It depends if it is a dog or a puppy. If it is a smaller pup you can swipe their genitals with a warm wet cloth once or twice, it will stimulate them to urinate. Older pup or full grown dog I just let them lead me to thier desired spot and give them more time. If eventually nothing happens I go back inside and try taking them out again 30 mins later until they do potty then give them a treat and positive reinforcement.

answered a question Is there any way for multiple people to receive updates for the same stay?

Indeed Deb has the right idea. You always want to give the sitter both numbers just in case they can't reach you on one of them. Also the sitter can create a group text and send updates and pics to anyone attached to the group.

answered a question What do you normally use for sending updates - regular text to the Rover number, the Rover app or your desktop?

Unfortunately every app is apt to have glitches. I've never had and issue sending correspondence with my phone. I have however had a few occurrences when I wasn't notified of new requests. Fail proof method computer desktop. Rover app on Tablet has been good as well. A few phone glitches with receiving requests.

answered a question How do I get my profile to be listed higher when searched?

This site changes so quickly it's hard to tell how they rank search results anymore. There use to be tons of "lessons," "quizzes" and other things you could do to earn badges. More badges would improve your chances. As well as response time, and good reviews. That was well over a year ago though, now some badges take money to earn such as the background check and donating. Which is great for the clients peace of mind yet hard on your earnings. I don't even think badges matter any more. I've noticed no real formula for improving your results as of late, just do a great job, be friendly, honest, and passionate about providing quality care.
