commented answer Could calendar show spaces left?

Thank you Margaret & Deb for the question and comment. We would like to hear from others on this issue on what carries more weight when it come to wasting pet parents time & frustration when searching for a sitter or protecting the general public regarding the numbers of stays booked? Jean & Wendelin

answered a question Why are space numbers not viewable when contacting sitter profile calendar?

We listed 3 spaces as the max amount of dogs because there are households with more than just one dog. We also chose to be flexible to accommodate one other client to overlap in the same time range as long as it does not add up to more then the max amount we can watch. We update the available space numbers each time we accept a request and lower the amount of available space numbers on our sitter calendar. When we as a pet parent search the profile page of a sitter in our area for availability to an overnight stay for our boxer their calendar omits space numbers that are still available. It just denotes as available or unavailable. We as a dog parent are missing out of important information and are frustrated with the additional time it takes us to check with the sitter and to find out as the end result that our boxer would need to overlap with anther dog that is already booked. If the space numbers can be visible for the pet parent to be the same as updated by the sitter we would instantly know if our boxer would need to overlap and we could move on without wasting precious time. asked a question Why are space numbers not viewable when contacting sitter profile calendar?

List item

Hello Rover support Team! We need to share this frustrating situation we are facing every day when we update available space numbers on our sitter calendar which are not viewable for the dog owner searching availability on the profile page to contact the sitters calendar. When we are searching for our boxer Rox to stay in sitters homes in our area, the availability calendar omits available space numbers and only refers to denotes available or unavailable. We do not get the same information updated by the sitter on their calendar as far as available space numbers therefore we don’t know if our boxer Rox would be the only one or would he need to overlap with another owners dog. Updating available space numbers on our sitters calendar is just another waste of our time since when requests coming in for customers searching for their dog but are not OK with an overlap. If you could show the available space numbers as they are updated daily by us on our sitters calendar to be viewed as the same as on the contact this sitter calendar it would make a whole lot more sense for everyone involved. Thank you Jean & Wendelin

commented question calendar/advance booking

Great question” Why can't we view/modify our calendar past 4-5 months?? We would also add on “Why parents when contacting a sitter can’t view the updated space numbers that are still available rather than just the available or unavailable denotes. We have clients when they pick up their pet children asking us to reserve spaces up to 12 month ahead of time. To accommodate we created our own calendar to go past the rover range and pencil them in so we are able to respond when request come in thru rover. We are a little bit more concerned about why as a dog parent we are not able to view the sitter’s updated available space numbers when connecting with their profile. We as a dog parent if we would be able to view the space numbers still available would instantly know that our boxer would or... (more)

commented question Calendar Availability

The answer may very well be the sitter updates and decreases the space numbers every time there is a booking or reservation for that time range so they can refer to it when requests come in. The pet parent viewing rovers contact the sitter omits space numbers entirely and the person searching will see a green blank area denoting it the sitter is available. A reduction from the max amount of space numbers available on the sitters calendar should let the person searching know that that their dog may have to overlap with another dog during that time and range eliminate the difficult and time consuming process.

answered a question How do you handle a dog constantly barking?

There is really no quick fix to this problem. Barking is how dogs communicate or give warnings. A good way for your friend to stop his dog from constant barking is to attach a gentle leader to the leash then walk the dog for a short while. The gentle leader won't hurt the dog it just will give him an uncomfortable feeling due to the dog won't be able to open his mouth wide enough to bark. Do this each day at least once when he begins to bark then praise him each time you notice improvements after removing the gentle leader. Soon he will learn constant barking is not acceptable. commented question What do you feel would make pet-sitting through Rover a better experience?

Before commenting we would like to express of how much we appreciate that Rover has made it possible for us to be able to do what we love. After a client books a stay with us the Rover in home sitter calendar may still show additional available space. We are encouraging dog owners at our meet & greet to be open to overlaps with dogs from other households and are keeping a list. We are inquiring if it would be possible for the in home sitter calendar to be programmed with an additional denote so the sitter can update showing when overlaps can be accepted for a quick response to those last minute requests? “It’s good to be a dog at our house” Jean & Wendelin

commented question Will the website allow bookings for more than one client at a time?

Get ready to be disappointed. Chances are slim due to having to comply with all the clients involved to get their approval for their dogs interacting during the overnight stay. Denotes other than just available or unavailable on the sitters calendar could help to better inform our clients and safe time for both of us.

commented answer Will the website allow bookings for more than one client at a time?

Rover needs to incorporate more than just the 2 denotes (available or unavailable). Changing availability after a client booked causes confusion for clients who are uncomfortable for their dog having to interact with another family dog. Informing the client with denotes to be better informed may save a lot of time for both the sitter & the client.
