answered a question Has anyone ever paired up with a Rover sitter?

Found the answer from Rover. See below!

his is Chelsea L. with Rover Support. Thank you for your email!

As it turns out, we are currently a new system to pair sitters up so they each have a backup. Although, it is not currently available to the entire site so for now the owner will need to reach out to other sitters to see if they are willing to be a backup for you in case you are unable to make it.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. We are also available 24/7 by phone at (888) 453-7889 to help you with any questions.

Right, I would agree it would come out of my pay. I was thinking to prorate my regular rate at 16 hours(since 8 of them I will be at work) for days during the week and regular rate for weekends and then the other sitter would get the regular dog walking rate for week days.

asked a question Has anyone ever paired up with a Rover sitter?

I have a prospective house sitting booking for 15 nights and because I work 8 - 5 I am not always available to come home for lunch. The owners said they would be okay if another sitter came by for lunch walks when I can't. Has anyone ever done that? Is anyone in the same situation as me and losing clients because of the inability to come for lunch?

commented answer Help! A puppy ate our blinds, oh no?

The goal of Q&A is to provide a space where dog lovers can connect with and learn from one another. I don't think it's important to patronize the sitter. Let's help each other out not criticize

answered a question Will my dog know I'm not leaving her for good?

In my personal experience and with Rover's help and guidance on separation anxiety, I have been able to make dogs feel comfortable by taking them on a walk as soon as they get dropped off. After we wear some of the energy out, I like to make them feel comfortable with treats, or sitting down with them and if that doesn't work then we go back outside for a little bit more. In my most severe cases of separation anxiety, the dogs calm down within an hour and become comfortable. It's important to ask your sitter how they deal with these situations as it requires a lot of patience. They will be okay in the end :) Don't worry ;)

answered a question I'm trying to apply to be dog-sitter, but don't have any pets. Help please?

Hi Jose! I am in the same spot as you are. I do not have any pets as mine passed in Dec., hence why I joined Rover :) You do not have to upload a picture of your pet. In fact, some owners prefer that sitters don't have any pets. Take pictures of your home if you're boarding and have testimonial reviews done by friends :)

commented question How do I find a sitter comfortable with senior dogs?

Find a sitter and feel free to message them with your questions. Many sitters have experience with senior dogs(like myself because mine passed recently and that's why I do Rover now :)) Make sure to read through their profile and don't hesitate to ask the right questions so your pups needs are met

commented answer Is it possible to see previous stay notes from past sitters?

Thank you ma'am!

Karen, I totally disagree with you. I really don't think it was her fault.. It's going to be hard to explain to the owner that what happened wasn't your fault. They may either be completely understanding or outright defensive. Hopefully when they come pick up their dogs they notice the damage?

commented question How do i bring in customers?

I think it's because you only provide services for Dog Walking and Drop In visits. Honestly, I almost never get requests for either services. People mostly book House Sitting or Dog Boarding. I would ask your friends to do reviews for you as testimonials since you only have 2 reviews.

answered a question What's the best formula to use to charge a couple of hours of dog-sitting. At home, or their home?

My dog boarding rate is $25 per 24 hours, if they do a half day, I will adjust the rate before booking down to $12.50. Basically your rate for boarding should be for 24 hours and then divide your rate based on hours. For example, my recent stay was from Saturday 9am until Sunday 8pm, I asked for $25 plus additional $12.50 for the hours after the first 24 hours have passed. I have done this now with 3 different clients, one is a repeat and they did not seem to have a problem with it at all and left great reviews.

Is it possible to see previous stay notes from past sitters? How is everyone else handling this?
