commented question When do you typically receive bookings for Thanksgiving?

22 sitters were in Calgary when I started (with DogVacay, which merged with Rover). At last count, now 550+ sitters. I don't know if Rover sets a limit based on demand or allows unlimited sitters. We are usually booked because we have 64 reviews, 35 repeat clients and we only take one dog at a time.

commented answer How early can you bathe a puppy?

Buzzer sound errrrk! The answer is NEVER! Robert Hilton, a veterinarian who practises in the field of veterinary dermatology: "In general, healthy dogs only need to be bathed if they smell. There's no reason particularly to bath a healthy dog, unless they're dirty," Dr Hilton says.

Our 10-year-old boxer never had a bath in his lifetime and he never smelled. Boxers hate water like a cat and we subjected our first boxer to occasional baths, poor tortured creature.

Right, they do seem to be understanding, but many we just never see again. I agree about finding other sitters... Thanks for the insight!

Thanks, great ideas!

asked a question What if I have too many clients and my regulars can't get a booking?

I suddenly seem to have reached critical mass and my regulars can't get a booking. (We've had 66 dogs in 3.5 years (since DogVacay); we only take one at a time.) Today I set "Repeat customers only" so new customers won't see my profile. This seems drastic because we like to have a dog all the time. Does anyone else have this problem? Any other solutions?

commented answer How can i find out if customers that have used Rover.com before have dogs that have caused problems?

Airbnb allows this so people can decide whether to accept a visitor. But they can't do a meet and greet, right? We can do a meet and greet. I would never accept a dog without one. I did once because it was just one night and it was a pit bull cross, nice dog, but I was terrified the whole time.

commented answer How can i find out if customers that have used Rover.com before have dogs that have caused problems?

Rover makes money from sitters, not clients, so they are very supportive of sitters. I have been a sitter since DogVacay, October 2015, (66 clients!) and Rover is incredibly supportive of me.
